tomtom go 520 ipod connection problem

Hi, have read through the forums to try to get to the bottom of this, but nothing seems to work. Have an old ipod 30gb video, with according to itunes the latest software (1.3). Have the tomtom 520 and an ipod connect cable (from ebay, not official (may be the cause..)).

Every time i try to plug it in, it just comes up with the 'Please connect your ipod' message. have made sure the connection on the tomtom is clicked in all the way (only one connection it can fit into, by USB). I have ensured that the ipod connection is in all the way. the iod does dock through several other items i have in the house, so i'm assuming the ipod is fine.

Is there anything else i can try before leaving negative feedback for a cable that doesn't work???

No ideas on the solution but don't just leave negative feedback without contacting the seller first - they may be able to help or send you a replacement
