from memory there is an option under 'manage pois' to display them on the map?

also, how many poi categories (i.e. ov2 files) do you have? some devices have a limit to the number that you can use. any over that limit will simply 'not display'

some others will be here shortly to give better info!!

MaFt

ps - ive edited your title to make it more obvious ;)

If he doesn't, you might be able to help me. This has bugged me for a while. I've got a TomTom One v1, running App 7.162, map UK&ROI v710.1571.

I was in a colleague's car where he was using a pda running TT Navigator 6, and I noticed that his POIs showed up on the map as he was driving along, and I thought I would like to do that. So went in to Show POI on map and ticked the ones I'd like to see. But they still don't show up as I'm driving past them like his do. They show up when I browse the map, and Show POI on map definitely governs what shows up there, but I can't get them to show while I'm driving.

So am I doing something wrong, or is this a limitation of Nav 7 on the TomTom?

It is in the Points Of Interest (POIs) section where it is quite at home, the question is POI related, as it is not in the TomTom section do you suggest it is moved there or has it been moved since your last post? - Mike

Sorry I wasn't clear Mike. It hasn't been moved. This has started off in the POI forum but since the original query and mine are both about getting a TomTom to display POIs I think it would be better in the TomTom forum.

This is one of those where it is either something really obvious or something really obscure!
Certainly they SHOULD show up on the road ahead in the normal navigation display as you drive, if you have got them selected in Change preferences/Show POI on map.
And if you want them to ALERT (i.e. flash up in the top left corner and give an optional audio warning) then you need to set that up in Change preferences/Manage POIs/Warn when near POI.

If you've done one or both of those, it should simply work, and I'm at a loss to realise why its not for you.
The software version should make no difference, its a really basic part of the core program that hasn't changed in years.

The usual first question is: have you tried a paperclip reset in the hole in the bottom?

Yes, I've tried lots of things, but I can't get any POIs to display as I'm driving along. Warnings work with the cameras, no problem. It's a mystery, but probably something very simple knowing me. Thanks anyway.

Next thought....
Is it the same for the built-in POIs as well as ones you've added yourself?

If it is jus the added ones it might be something to do with the .bmp icon files that should accompany every POI data file (ov2). Normally if there is a problem with an icon file it shows up as a red square on screen, but it could be some esoteric issue with them.

Are you talking about the same POI Files, from the same source, and with the same date? These are continually changing.

If you zoom right in when using Browse Map, are the locations where you would expect them to be?
