I recently purchased an S50, I chose this over the S70/S90 as I only require UK navigation, However every time I turn it on I have to scroll through a list of European countries, to select the UK map.

Is there any way to set the S50 to select the UK map automatically when it's turned on?

Are you turning your unit off completely (long press on power button) or are you just putting it in suspend mode (short press on power button)?
Navman units are designed to be suspended during normal use and only turned off completely for storage.

Thanks TheM

I've been turning it off completely as I wasn't aware it could be left on standby when not being used.

I chose the S50 over the S70 as I don't need, or want the European maps, and was surprised to find that they're already installed in the unit, but locked. I therefore wondered if it was possible to disable them at startup, or preferably, remove them altogether.

Despite this, I'm pleased with the accuracy and the functions of the S50, It was a bargain at only £108.00.

Now if only I can find a good price for the T2 unit.

Be warned, no idea if the S-series are like my N20 but if it is and you leave it in suspend mode, rather than turn off completely the battery continues to be used and if you don't use it regularly then you'll come back to a Navman with no battery left. You'll need to hook it up to the car charger instead of just putting it on the mount and getting going.

Or any other device that supports suspend mode -- to get instant-on device is not completely turned off, memory is still being refreshed so that device can just pick up where it left off when awoken. Put device in suspend mode if you plan to use it again within the next several days; turn it off completely if you know you won't need it soon.

Yes the suspended on is the best way for regular users, or complete on/off for the occasional user

For really fast on / off, resets etc. I just remove everything except UK mapping - and as I only ocassionally need EU, just load these on as and when. For some this isn't ideal, for me it gives me really fast switch on and reset if needed, so works well
