In the description for TomTom's new all in one gps there's something they call the "unique assisted satellite navigation system" is supposed to give you an "uninterrupted" signal even in tunnels. Anyone have any idea how this works?

They have deisgned the unit with 2 accelerometers built in. These allow the unit to calculate movement on two planes so in situations where GSP data is not present the unit is able to calculate movement acceleration and lateral movements which it uses to plot course and speed.

The beauty of this system is that you can maintain navigation in tunnels and other places such as urban canyons where satellite reception can be marginal.
