Just bought a Nuvi 250W - a couple of Q's

Today I bought a Nuvi 250W, an upgrade from my trusty old i3. I'm very impressed! A couple of questions however:

1. What is the SD card slot for? All the map data etc is stored internally so what can I do with an SD card to add goodies to my 250W?

2. It says that my new Nuvi comes preloaded with Safety camera alerts. Do I hav eto do anything to activate it? I haven't been past a speed camera yet to test it.

3. Can you change the car icon and if so how?

1) map updates (eg if you bought usa maps you could install onto sd card), photo's for photo viewer etc

2) think they are usually already activated, if not then you need to log in to 'my garmin' and activate from there...? i'd recomend using ours though, but i may be biassed...

3) yes - using webupdater after it has checked for firmware i believe it asks if you want to search for other updates (eg voices etc) i think icons are in here. if not then try the Garmin Garage at: http://www8.garmin.com/vehicles/
