Brodit active mount for Go730?

Hi, just wondered if anyone knows whether the Brodit active mount for a Go720 could also be used for a Go730? Apparently the units are exactly the same but does anyone know for sure?

I think there's been a mention of this somewhere... maybe on the topic where the 720 mount was reviewed?

Everyone says the hardware of the x20 and x30 models is the same, but Brodit seemed to say the USB socket was very slightly differently placed.

I thought there was mention of the 930 vs 920 mount in this thread, but I couldn't find it when I just flicked through.

However, there was a picture of the bottom of the 930 and the USB port seems to be in the same position as the 720 - so I'm not 100%

I am sure there is a difference of a few MM between the position of the mini USB socket from what Brodit have mentioned somewhere, there will also need to be an alterration to the cable assembly for the new RDS receiver that was announced a couple of weeks ago with the launch of the 'even newer edition' TomTom One products. This assumes that TomTom will switch to the newer RdS device for all models at some future point.
It is not possible for me to confirm the physical dimensions with my 930 and 720 as they are not necessarily the same as a true production built device - Mike

There is a difference of one or two mm's in the position of the USB socket. certainly on a Carcomm cradle this causes problems as whilst the USB can 'mate' it prevents the RDS-TMC antenna connection from fully connecting unless forced. As this has already proved to be a weak point on the x20's I'd be very wary of doing so.

Carcomm will shortly be releasing x30 compatible cradles and I'll seek comment from Brodit on the availability of 'Active' x30 solutions. You will see from their website that they do not list any for x30's at present because of this issue.

Why the design has changed in this way I can only speculate. Either there has been a radical internal re-design necessitating the change or TomTom are just being bloody minded to force 3rd party accessory manufacturers to re-tool. I'll have a 930 very shortly and will open it up to see!

I bought a Brodit active mount for a 920T and am now using it with a 930T.

The fit appears to be identical.

The problems will arise when TomTom come out with the newfangled traffic adaptor thingy (do I mean HD traffic?) which I assume will need a new active mount.

I ordered a Brodit active mount (Item 273006) for my 730T from their web site and the packaging states that it fits 520T 530T 720T 730T 920T and 930T.

It seems to fit the connectors perfectly.

It is a bit more tricky to slide the TT into mount than I expected, because the swivel swivels with less force than it takes to depress the spring in the back of the 730.

Another confirmation here, bought a active mount for TT520T now using it with 730T.

Part numbers when you do a search on brodit.com are identical for traffic and non traffic versions for x20 and x30

I think TT should produce a hardwire solution for their complete range in a similar fashion to the 730 desk dock.

It would be extremely neat and could sit on the top of the dash of the majority of vehicles.

TomTom are committed to solutions that do not encourage owners to leave their device and or mount on display and I think that's the right move.

For those of us that wish a permanent mount there is Carcomm and Brodit.
