I do not believe it requires a programmer or weeks to solve - just a new license key from SVOX!
The problem with changing back the date on the PDA or PPC as soon as it pick up the GPS signal it then changed the time and date back to the correct setttings!!
Can somebody tell me how to fix the following problem ?
I believe the A one thousand, two hundred and thirty four problem can be fixed by going into the ppen-GB0.text file in the EnglishUK voice file and inserting the line
(PM me for the line of text, with your email address. The HTML code is not accepted by your server, so my post was rejected when I included the line!)
near the bottom of the NAVI_RULES section. The TTS then spells out any road number above 100 as A one two three four etc.
I read the previous posts but cannot work out what needs to be changed as the essential bit is missing

hello guys first post here and i need some help
i am from greece we too have problems with dest 7 but we have solve most of them in a greek similar forum i am in
we now try to change the visual alert of favorites and make them appear on the screen again like on dest 6 on approach.
But the destcore.dll of the greek edition seems to be changed a lot and this is where i need your help is it possible for someone here to send me a destcore.dll from a country out of greece anywhere in europe, uk, anywhere from a genuine copy of dest 7.0.0588 in order to experiment if we can have visual warning along with acoustic on approach to favorites? like we had in dest 6? i have read all the pages in the topic and i saw that you have not found a solution for that and that the Destinator Technologies GmbH Service doesn't really care
if you can send me a copy and we find a solution i will return you the solution for your use
Georen, if you want a copy of destcore.dll go to http://www.hitachi.com.au/pr-Hitachi-GPS-MMP401B.seo
At the bottom there is a link GPS Software Upgrade. That is a complete copy of the entire Destinator 7.0.24.107 software. It includes destcore.dll.
Also lots of other files that can be hacked to improve the unit. Here is what I have done:
- Amended \language\all\help.txt to add my name and address and phone
- Amended \skin\all\welcome.png and welcome_big.png to my own photo
- Amended \skin\all\font.ini changed FONT_SCREEN_HELP from Tahoma 10 to Tahoma 12
- Amended \skin\all\2D_Bright.png to a car photo
- Amended \skin\all\3D_Bright.png to a car photo
- Amended \skin\all\2D_Bright_Bad_GPS.png to a car photo
- Amended \skin\all\3D_Bright_Bad_GPS.png to a car photo
- Amended \skin\all\View3dDesc.inf to change colour of route from 198,224,237 to 255,0,0 (red) and colour of border to 164,0,0 to make it stand out more
- Amended \UserData\MainScreen.ini to change some defaults to 'no'
- Amended \Voice\All\Voice.ini:
- change "gps signal too low" to "No GPS" or "patience carmen, I am searching for the satellites"
- "you are exceeding the speed limit" to "slow down carmen"
- "route recalculation" to "wrong way carmen"
- "followed by" to "then"
- "take the .. exit at the roundabout" to "take .. exit at roundabout"
- "exit to the left" to "exit left"
- "drive carefully" to "here we go another wild goose chase"
- Amended \Destinator\Destinator.ini
- change tollroads from 0 to 1
- changed QWERTY to 1
- changed AUTO_DAY_NIGHT to 0
- DLS from no to yes (Auto daylight saving)
- Amended \skin\all\destinator.inf - swapped icon details for Power and GPS to fix a bug.
At around line 140 the following two lines have the values reversed:
Change those two lines to:
::CT_VERT, MAINSCREEN_GPS_DATA,1037,,0x4200000b,212,66,29,25,1,7,0xFF,100,0
::CT_VERT, MAINSCREEN_POWER_DATA,1036,,0x4200000b,212,40,29,25,1,7,0xFF,100,0
Change to:
::CT_HOR,MAINSCREEN_POWER_DATA,1036,,0x4200000b,451,96,29,26,1,7,0xFF,100,0
::CT_HOR,MAINSCREEN_GPS_DATA,1037,,0x4200000b,451,68,29,26,1,7,0xFF,100,0
Also lots of other files that can be hacked to improve the unit. Here is what I have done:
Thats awesome - thanks alot for your contribution, I'm sure it will help to make the D7 experience a little better for users. I have to say I reverted back to D6 until such time as Destinator repair the faults in this terrible release, or until D8 is available. Does anyone want to buy my D7 version ?
It is also possible to customise the entire menu structure. You can change the size of the menu option icons and also the number of icons per page. You just modify \skin\all\menu.ini.
I have changed it to be much more logical, user friendly and easier to read. To change the font size you have to modify Font.ini as well.
The main menu now looks like this. The writing is much bigger as are the icon boxes:
(GO TO ADDRESS) (GO TO FAVORITES)
(GOTO RECENTS) (MORE)
Main menu 2 looks like this
(GO TO PLACES) (ROUTE)
(OPTIONS) (SETTINGS)
I have moved all route related options into ROUTE. I have also moved all options that one changes into OPTIONS. All thing that one never changes (eg. language) are in SETTINGS.
I also discovered a hidden option which I have enabled, which is Route Record/Playback.
The Route menu looks like this. It has 7 options, all on the one screen.
; The number of toolbar buttons
NumToolbarButtons=2
; the toolbar height
ToolbarHeight = 40
; how many pixels between title and frame area
TopTitleSpacing = 5
; Text color for menu buttons
MenuButtonTextColor = COLOR_MENU_BUTTON_TEXT
MenuButtonDisabledTextColor = COLOR_MENU_BUTTON_DISABLE_TEXT
MenuButtonPressedTextColor = COLOR_MENU_BUTTON_PRESS_TEXT
; Text color for toolbar buttons
MenuToolbarTextColor = COLOR_TOOLBAR_BUTTON_TEXT
MenuToolbarDisabledTextColor = COLOR_TOOLBAR_BUTTON_PRESS_TEXT
MenuToolbarDisabledTextColor = COLOR_TOOLBAR_BUTTON_DISABLE_TEXT
MenuButtonIconPosition = TOP
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; MAIN MENU ;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
[Frame0]
ButtonExtraTopIconSpace= 4
; Number of buttons per row
ButtonsPerRow = 2
; Number of buttons in the frame
NumButtons = 4
; How many pixels to shrink the button on the sides (number of pixels for each side)
ButtonShrinkX_Portrait = 12
; How many pixels to shrink the button on top and bottom (number of pixels for each side)
ButtonShrinkY_Portrait = 18
; How many pixels to shrink the button on the sides (number of pixels for each side)
ButtonShrinkX_Landscape = 4 ;18
; How many pixels to shrink the button on top and bottom (number of pixels for each side)
ButtonShrinkY_Landscape = 4 ;10
; How many pixels to shrink the frame between the toolbar and the title
FrameShrinkX_Portrait = 0
FrameShrinkY_Portrait = 0
Here is the file \UPDATE\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Skin\All\font.ini
[General]
Name = Standard Destinator v6.0 fonts
//format description:
//variable name = font parameters
//Font parameters:
//1. Font name
//2. Height
//3. Width
//4. Weight - R - regular, B - bold, E - extrabold
To update your MMP-401B (or maybe other models) using the above do the following:
1. Get a blank SD card. Must be 2Gb or less. 4Gb does not work.
2. Copy ShincoTest.exe to the root directory. (From the Hitachi web site update file).
3. Create the following directory structure:
\UPDATE\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Skin\All
ie. The SD card root directory contains ShincoTest.exe plus the directory called UPDATE.
4. Cut and paste the above two files and call them menu.ini and font.ini.
5. Copy the files to the bottom of the directories above. That is copy them into the All directory.
6. Put the SD card into the MMP401b and then turn it on.
7. Tap on YES to upgrade.
8. Tap on Restart when finished.
9. Remove the SD card.
10. Power on the unit and go into Navigator. The new menus are now active.
Naturally you should keep a copy of the original Hitachi download so you can restore the old files if something goes wrong.
You can also change the way the unit pronounces street names etc. if it does not pronounce them correctly by modifying UPDATE\Destinator\voice\all\ppen-GB0.txt (or the corresponding one for your language in your language directory. eg. \voice\french\ppfr-FR0.txt)
At the end of the street abbreviation list, just add your own streets and their correct pronunciation. eg. near me are two streets Moate St and Moorfields Rd which it pronounced starting with Moo like the sound a cow makes. So here is part of the modified ppen-GB0.txt to correct them:
(NOTE. CHANGE THE ROUND BRACKETS TO ANGLE BRACKETS. I used round brackets because it would not accept the angle brackets in this posting.)
The file goes on the same SD card in the directory UPDATE\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Voice\All or in the one for your language. eg. UPDATE\DestinatorApps\Destinator\Voice\French
There are lots of other things you can do. Basically any ini or inf or txt file can be modified, but BEWARE. You may stop your unit working and may void your warranty. So be careful.
If you want to be able to have it say one set of prompts one day, and another the next, create new "language" directories in the voice directory. Call them say Peter, Jenny etc. Copy all files from the original language, then modify voice.ini to use different sayings for the various instructions.
If you use GB English, copy the "All" directory files to Peter directory etc. All is used for GB English.
Then modify VOICE.INI as required.
eg. in Peter directory change DESTINATION.LAST=you have arrived at your destination
to DESTINATION.LAST=amazing, you actually found the place.
In Jenny directory you might have it say:
DESTINATION.LAST=we have arrived thanks to my help, you would have got lost on your own
Then you can change languages on the unit from Peter to Jenny from day to day to suit your mood (or to confuse your wife!)
pmolsen thank you for your help
i just saw your post due to a problem with my pc
as soon as i will have results worth to use i will post back for all of you
