Hi Proz and welcome to the forum.

There is definitely nothing covering the lens?
And
Does this black square have any buttons around it?
Is there any pixel movement in the square at all?
If No to all of the above, then it is probably broken.

If you do have buttons on the screen try adjusting the photo brightness. (unlikely)

However it might just be a software problem, so try re-installing the firmware anyway, you might get lucky.

Hi there

There is nothing covering the lens and the buttons are around the screen but where i would assume the image should be is just black .... if i take a pic it shows up as just a green square in the album ....forgive my ignorance but how do i reinstall the firmware for it ...

thanks for the reply and welcome

Mark

At this point I may have some difficulty directing you as I am not 100% sure on this model. On Navman software of old, there was an option to 'Update software' to device. Look at your navdesk software if you have it and try the update button.

Navman support may also help, as I would be surprised if the option has now been removed.

A green picture is not a promising sign! Sad

When you open the lens cover you should (after a few seconds) see the image on screen from the camera.

If not then something is amiss.

Sorry to say, but you obviously have a faulty S90i. I had the exact same problem and had to return to Navman and received a replacement.

Hopefully you have all previous owners registration etc of the unit so that you too can get support. I am not sure if the 2 year warranty covers a re-sold unit.

Hopefully all works out well for you.

I do have previous owners reciept etc so after several calls to the support center the unit was sent away yesterday .... hopefully wont take to long to come back .... did you get the same one back or did they send you a completely new one ?

Proz,

They sent me back a "brand new" unit. As I sent the unit itself, that was all they replaced. Having dealt in the past with Navman support, I sent the bare minimum to them. My concern was if I sent the total package, I may have received back less than I sent.

Best Regards,
Denis
