City Navigator Europe NT+V8.
Software Versio 3.10
Upon start I get the 'Map Update Notice' (The following map data is more than a year old and should be updated).
I am happy with what I've got and don't want to pay £50 - £60 for an update so is there a way of getting rid of this message?
Thankyou

You can do ti with a reset, however you'll need to backup your Favourites first.
EasyGPS www.easygps.co.uk can be used to do this.
Then switch the i3 off, hold down the back button, the roll wheel and then press the Power button so all 3 button are depressed. Tricky but possible. It'll ask about resetting data say Yes. You'll need to set up all the settings again as it resets it to how it came out the box but the message will be gone.
Now Use EasyGPS to reload the Favourites. |

Thanks PaulB2005 it worked a treat. However I am now unable to load POI's and Speed cameras. I have tried numerous times, updated the POILoader, sometimes it states that all has been copied but there is none on the GPS. Most times my computer crashes (7 times). Any ideas?

When uploading to the GPS from POILoader the computer would reboot with no warning. I tried again this morning and it seemed to work, but now it thinks it is in Sweden!!! Time zone is set to Western Europe, I would have thought Greenwich would be there.
The files on the card are:-
GMAPSUPP.IMG (170.488KB)
GMAPSUPP.UNL (1KB)
Folder = POI with file poi.gpi (1382KB) (date modified 5/4/2008)
Folder = Voice with all the vpm files
(edit) finally got the maps working but still no joy with the POI's!
Cheers

Bazjaq, you were too hasty!
When this happened to me with my Garmin Streetpilot i3 last year, I applied for the updated map DVD on the Garmin website and they did not charge me to get the unlock key, after it arrived in the post.
There was no explanation given at the time, but I suspect it was because my unit was (registered with them and) still within the one year warranty period.
Granted, going through all the hoops on their Website and registering as a MYGARMIN user was a right Royal pain, but it turned out to well worth the trouble.
Sadly I've no experience with the problems you are now experiencing, but I would think going back to basics, ie a factory reset and gradually building up the firmware and renewing your USB and POI updater software might help.
Regards

Thanks to you both for your help and suggestions. After messing about for ages and doing yet another factory reset I have finally got it working. I've just been out to test the camera warnings, it works, and the POI's are there as well. So it's success at last, but this has made me decide to upgrade so I am now checking out the pros and cons of the modern systems.
Thanks again
