Hi all

Just picked up TTN3 for an ipaq 4150 running PPC 2003 - ie the s/w plus tomtom's own GPS receiver. I have upgraded the s/w to v3.02.

Quite happy with initial usage so far but I have a few questions & comments which I hope you can help me with, hope you bear with my newbieness! Mr. Green

1. One thing I noticed while I was navigating was that at various times other bluetooth services such as activesync with my laptop or gprs connection to my mobile try to activate automatically. Any idea how I can stop this as it is a bit annoying to have to click the screen to get rid of these?

2. The cities are very flaky, if I am looking for a fairly large town such as East Kilbride or Bellshill, I seem to have to look under the post code such as Glasgow or Motherwell. Is this correct as it is a bit annoying to try and figure out what postal location a certain location comes under.

3. I really need a powered car kit but I think the speaker is not required as it is loud enough on my 4150. However the tomtom powered kit for the 4150 is unavailable, as it is the smae form, do you think the 1940 car kit will work? I have asked tomtom but no response yet.

4. Charging the receiver - is it possible to overcharge if left on for a long time such as overnight? I take it the green light comes on when it is fully charged?

5. I noticed on ocassion that the PPC bluetooth remains on even though the unit is switched off ie the blue light flashes and needs a hard reset, anyone else come across this?

6. Tomtom traffic, how do I use this?

TIA.

1. Go into ActiveSync on the Pocket PC, tap Tools, Options.... On the PC tab, deselect "Use mobile schedule to sync with this PC". On the Server tab, ensure the server name is blank and none of the items are selected unless you are really synchronising with a suitably equipped Exchange Server.

2. Known problem - there are many threads on this. See in particular the "Open Letter" I wrote to TomTom earlier today.

3. I don't think so - I think the 4150 is a different shape. Indications are that the 4150 car kit will soon be available. There may well be third party alternatives - I'm not familiar with the range of powered mounts available, though.

4. I don't believe it's possible to overcharge. There have been some problems with original TomTom Bluetooth GPSes dying that may be linked to charging, but I believe TomTom are now using different Bluetooth GPS hardware (that lacks a cradle for the GPS receiver) that is more robust.

5. Occasionally TomTom GPS fails to close when you exit Navigator - this can require a soft reset (you don't mean a hard reset, I'm sure - that's the one that wipes your Pocket PC clean) to get round. If that's not the problem but your Bluetooth fails to switch off anyway when you tell it to, a soft reset is also your answer.

6. TomTom Traffic will need an extra application that you'll download from the TomTom site. It's due to become available some time during May. It isn't yet available.

1. OK, done that, hopefully that will sort it.

2. I'll send a copy to tomtom as well because it really is confusing

3. OK, I'll wait, maybe tomtom will answer me eventually regarding availability!

4. Good stuff

5. Yes you're right, soft reset, not really a big problem but just wondering if there is a fix.

thanks for all your help Thumbs Up
