You need to be on line while the update is taking place. The fact that you were thrown out seems to indicate that your connection was down. The update for all Europe takes about two hours so I would expect GB*I to take about 30 minutes or so. Part of the update is to install MapSource or MapInstall on your PC.

Stage 1 is to get your old maps updated - GB&I only. That will also install the mapping transfer software on your PC. Then proceed as my previous suggestion to get the extra maps on your SD card. If you put the card in th eGarmin it takes longer as the Garmin is USB1 not USB2

I was online on all attempts to update but I will give it another go, knowing my luck I will loose all info on the nuvi Crying or Very sad
