Hi All,

Has anyone managed to purchase the self adheasive disc for the standard 720 sucker mount on an individual basis. I have found them on e bay but are priced at about £9.00 for three. I really only need one. Anyone know where they can be purchased individually. Also has anyone ay experiance of these disks, are they effective and secure. Any info most gratefully received.

Thanks Tony

Hi Tony,

I couldn't find them available singly so bought 3 on ebay. I'd like to keep one of them for a spare, but if you'd like to pm me with your address I'll send one to you.

I find it works very well, and allows me to put the 720 on the top of the dash at the height I like, so that it doesn't obscure my forward vision at all, and at the right distance for my ageing eyes. I've been using it for about 3 months and haven't had the device fall off yet!

Dear lucky Anita. Any chance of posting a picture of your dash mount arrangement? I take it you're using the normal TT sucker mount with it? Does it cope with normal dashboard bobbly plastic surface? Is there enough clearance for the USB power plug to fit underneath?

'Course, anybody with three GOs probably wouldn't mind buying a set of three! Twisted Evil

Yes, Dennis, I'll post a photo when I remember to take one. Rolling Eyes

I don't stick my mount to the windscreen because the screen slopes too much, and in order to leave clearance for the power plug I would have to position it too high on the screen.

I don't know how the disc would cope with a bobbly surface, because my dashboard is smooth.

The stupid curvy Ford Ka dash doesn't have a flat surface anywhere, which makes it difficult to position the disc, and it has to protrude slightly to give clearance for the power plug, but I'm not too bothered about that as long as it positions the device where I want it.

It's because of the curvy dash that I was looking at flex mounts that would mould to the surface they're stuck on, but I'm not sure it's worth spending £20 on.

Yes, Darren. It's a pity more online sellers don't offer a special delivery rate for cheap, light items that just need popping in a jiffy bag with a 1st class stamp. Confused

My three SD cards cost £3.50 P&P EACH!!!
I know someone who is a committed e-bay seller who admits to me quite freely she deliberately makes a profit from the P&P.

I bought an Inrared dongle thing for the PC from eBay and it was £0.01p on "buy it now", not even an auction!

....£4.99 for P+P though. Evil or Very Mad

Technically eBay don't allow that, sellers use it to circumvent listing fees as P+P isn't taken into account when eBay calculate what's due!

Pictures as promised, Dennis, but I think you'll be disappointed. It's not nearly as innovative as you might have thought!! Very Happy

The North American model of the 720 comes with a dashboard disc as a standard accessory (perhaps, because in some jurisdictions like California, it is illegal to mount anything on a windshield (<--windscreen Wink ). The disc is not quite the one Anita shows in her photo since it is flat, no lip as her picture seems to show).

Anyway, I use the disc myself. The dash on my Ford Taurus isn't exactly smooth but it isn't overly bumpy either. The disc sticks very well. I have it near the front of the dash, mount the unit holder part on it and there is room for the powerplug to fit on the bottom and let the cord drape down.

When I'm through a trip, I just remove the unit and the holder part and the disc stays on the dash (in fact, I wonder how I could remove it properly if I needed to Razz )

I find the key to the unit's not vibrating is to make sure I wet the suction cup on the holder and press down quite hard for a few seconds before mounting the unit).

Hi Anita,

Thanks for you reply, I think I have sent you a pm, although I am not showing it in my sent box, the screen just goes blank when I send the PM. I have tried twice now !

Hopefully you will have my PM.

Thanks Tony
