Good Morning

Sorry about this but I have my stupid Saturday head on.

I keep forgetting to get the speed camera updates on my phone [I knew I should go for the PAYG rather than annual option!!!] but have remembered this morning and have hooked up the phone to the pc and downloaded the latest database.

BUT, I can't remember what to do next [the guide is making my head hurt, but I have tried to understand it].

What I now have is an unzipped folder containing:

_Need_Help
Licence
pocketgps_uk_pmobile
pocketgps_uk_pmobile.OV2
pocketgps_uk_sc
pocketgps_uk_sc.OV2
release

Do I just copy all of these and paste them into my GB_plus_major_roads_of_WE folder?

Sorry to be such a numpty, but I really am having a braindead moment here.

That's certainly the easiest, you don't need the _Need_Help, Licence or
release files but it'll do no harm to copy them all.

If you uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types" (from any folder, do Tools | Options | Folder Options then it's about half way down on the View tab), you will see the extensions for the files. It will make following the guide easier.

By default, Windows tries to help you by hiding useful info. Sad

Thanks Darren & Gerry

All done now :-)

Just hope that the firmware update that it's now installing doesn't knock the GPS out of kilter like it did last time :-(

Agreed!!!
In your example above, Windows is HIDING from you that your files are actually called:

_Need_Help.htm
Licence.txt
pocketgps_uk_pmobile.bmp
pocketgps_uk_pmobile.OV2
pocketgps_uk_sc.bmp
pocketgps_uk_sc.OV2
release.txt

It only shows the ".ov2" extension because it doesn't know what to do with it!

To fix it, (and to make things a lot easier to understand) go to either My Computer or Windows Explorer and:
Go to the 'Tools' Menu,
Select 'Folder Options'
Select the 'View' tab
Scroll down the list of entries and UN-tick "Hide extensions for known file types"
(While you are there, you could also TICK 'Show hidden files and folders" too. While not strictly neccessary, this will let you see EVERYTHING on your PC's and TomTom's storage).

If you're that bad with camera updates, Stop it! how are you with device backups??
Backup your device NOW using Windows Explorer, then make a note to back it up EVERY MONTH.

Hey guy, that's fine, Thumbs Up subject to two provisos ...

First, using Windows Explorer not TomTom Home.
Second, extra backup before fiddling with any new installations downloaded from TomTom.
