Got my 920t but I just cannot open my remote control to put the batteries in. I am pushing the lever in the direction of the arrow but cannot get out the front panel. Should it just fall out? Could it me that the lever on mine is broken and not releasing a catch?

You're not the only one - I gave up through fear of breaking it!

Took me ages too. Maybe these pictures will help. Whilst pushing the springy thing in the direction of the arrow, you also push it downwards. Sorry about the rubbish arrows - quivering old man hands!

Thanks a lot! Now why can't they tell you that in the instructions! Or even when I spoke to TomTom this morning?

I wasn't going to admit this, but if you look closely at the second picture you might see a tiny mark where my watchmakers screwdriver explored the thing! Confused

Thanks DennisN. Wish I'd seen this earlier, would have saved me a lot of time and bad language...

Looking at the pictures Dennis has given it seems something like a coin is the best tool to use so that only the latch that is part of the lower half is pressed downward in the direction of the moulded arrow. If fingers are used there is every chance you will also push the case of the upper half in the same direction and the latch will never get released as both parts will be moving together.

Just wait till you've had it a few months, then the darn battery cover will fly off at every opportunity!

Can I add my thanks to DennisN? I was also baffled by how to open the remote on my new 920 - until I saw his photos. I then did it in a second. Why couldn't TomTom have provided decent instructions? Anyway, thanks Dennis.

TomTom don't do "decent instructions". Have you read the manual on how to do the navigating instruction by voice recognition? From memory I think it says you can do navigating instructions by voice recognition. Have you noticed they have two entries in the manual about hands free Bluetoooth phone usage - one says the only speaker which can be used is the external FM speaker, the other says the only speaker which can be used is the internal speaker.

I know, because for the 720 and 920 I've RTFM-ed - the very first M I've RTF-ed since the Lotus 123 manual for release 2.01 of 22 years ago (1986). I have found a significant difference between the usefulness of the two.
