I always have my phone on but when i switch on my TT (i have the 710 though) my phone automatically connects to it with hansfree(little headset) and the wireless data connection( (B) ) at the same time. If i get a call and at the same time get a traffic update i have no problems running both at the same time. I used to always have to put in the 0000 every time my TT was asking for an update but ever since i run the clear flesh tool that has all fixed itself. So i find it hard to blame the phone for your problems carcusrae. Saying that i dont use mobile mail but if that is an internet feature i now that the handset can only have one internet connection at a time so that would make sence.

I think you are right regarding the Mobile Mail.

The point I was making about the 6120 though is that if I turn off my TomTom 720 but leave my phones bluetooth on, if I then turn the TomTom back on it will connect to the phone no problem BUT when I then try to connect to the Plus services it fails to find a wireless data connection. I then have to delete the pairing on both the TomTom & Phone and have to set it all back up again as per your instructions. It then works fine again.

What plus service are you connecting to. Either way you should not have to set up the connection again. When i turn my TT off and then on again later on i get the could not establish a connection in the bottom left of the plus services screen. Is that what you are getting. If so you simply press the plus service icon again and it will re-connect to it.

What I do is select TomTom Plus Services, then TomTom Weather. Select weather for a location. It then says one moment please, connectiing to server... and then I get a message saying ' Could not establish a wireless data connection, please check your mobile phone' Only option is then to hit continue and you are back to the TomTom Plus services screen.

Every time i switch my TT on i automatically get the (B) and the headset sign on my phone and if i press PLUS services and then weather i get the weather page no problem. I have tried this a few times and did'nt have any problems. Have you run the clear flash tool.

No I haven't run the Clear Flash Tool, I think i'll do a bit more testing before I do that.

Its not really too much of a pain to be honest, I would turn the bluetooth off on the phone when I don't need it anyway. So switching it off before switching off the 720 isn't too much hassle.

I am sure that in the TomTom site, if you go to the support page and put your details in for hands-free you get a question on (Why do i always need to put in my password every time i connect to my phone) or words to that effect. Read the answer it gives you as it may also help you on what you are describing as your problem. Wink

OK i'll have a look for that.

I did find this on the TomTom website, I have highlighted a couple of steps which refer to your steps above. Should we be using the settings on the TomTom website rather than yours for the '3' network?

To manually configure a wireless internet connection on your TomTom, see the following steps:

1. Enter the access point name (APN)
You can find the access point name under APN in the List of Settings below or obtain it from your mobile network operator.

2. Enter Username and Password for your mobile network provider as shown in the table below.
Where Username and Password are noted as X, these settings can be left blank.

3. The IP address should always be obtained automatically.

4. Even where this is not specifically mentioned in the GPRS Settings file, it is usually possible to have the DNS address assigned automatically. We advice you to choose Automatic. If you fail to make a connection, you can switch to Manual and enter settings under DNS 1 & DNS2.

5. The Dial for a GPRS / UMTS network is :*99#. For Siemens and Sony Ericsson handsets you need to insert *99***1#.

6.Login script is constructed: at+cgdcont=1,"ip","Access point name","",0,0 For example, Vodafone NL Business becomes: at+cgdcont=1,"ip","office.vodafone.nl","",0,0
Note: the '3' UMTS networks require no Login script. Except for some specific handsets: Motorola A835, E1000, V975, C975, Sony Ericsson Z1010: AT+CGATT=0

I have seen that before but it was a while ago. I think because our phone is not listed we are using default settings (thats why they are inserted automatically). The ones you have highlited could be for the phones that are listed on their database as compatible. I will look into it but at the end of the day these are only for obtaining a connection which we are getting so i would leave things as they are. If you decide to try them please post your results for future reference. Smile

I think you are right, don't fix it if it ain't broke!

I also now feel rather stupid as the first glitch I was having yesterday regarding turning off the bluetooth on the phone first, now seems to have resolved itself. I have just been testing it by leaving the phones bluetooth on and switching the 720 off & on and I can connect to the Plus services everytime. I can only imagine my problems yesterday must have been connected to the Mobile Mail issue. As long as I stick Mobile Mail in pause prior to and whilst connecting to the 720 I now don't seem to have any connection issues!

Still on the positive side at least I have resolved the main glitch Very Happy

I a glad it works for you now. It now confirms that you can only have one internet connection at a time. I think the question now is what connection would you use most and make that your main connection otherwise if pausing mobile mail is ok then you can stick to that if that is what you prefer. Very Happy

Off Topic Does it cost extra to your priceplan to use mobile mail and do you use skype as i seem to be having problems setting both up. My e-mail address link is at the bottom just incase this is should'nt be posted here. Confused

I will just pause Mobile Mail when I am travelling in the car and using my TomTom. When I reach my destination I can then re-enable my Mobile Mail and pick up my e-mails.

Off Topic Mobile Mail comes free with my X-Series Silver so no extra cost to use it. Haven't used Skype so I am afraid I can't comment on that. However if you check over at 3g.co.uk/forums there may be some help on there regarding Skype use on 3. Smile

That's right you do get free Skype minutes and as far as I know it works similar to on your PC, so to call anyone they need to be online as well.

I was wondering carcusrae if you have been able to get your phone book copied to your TomTom. I have not been able to do it so i was curious if you have.
