Brand new N20 says no maps loaded but Smart ST shows maps?

Bought an N20 for my wife for Xmas, same unit as I've owned for over a year now. When I got mine it worked straight out of the box, however hers says no maps loaded. Linked it up to Smart ST desktop and this clearly shows that the UK maps are on the unit. Thougt it would be worth trying to load the latest software upgrade, tried this and it stated that smart st desktop wasn't loaded on the unit and gave me the option to load it. Tried loading it and it asks for application and product keys. The software states these are on the box that the CDs came in. The CDs came in sleeves in the navman box and the codes on the back of the sleeves don't have enough digits.

Where do I find the application and product code keys, I've looked all over the box and all through the papaerwork but can't find them. A real pain as it's a Christmas pressie for the wife, it's boxing day now so no chance of any support! Anyone on here got any ideas???

It may be possable you have inadvertantly attempted to install the euro maps which will certainly require the key. I believe you will find the uk maps on your unit have already been activated out of the factory and do not require the key anymore.

It may also be due to the activtion the Navman own camera database which would release after registration.

If in doubt call Navman support as they would definatly be able help you with this problem.

As for why the maps were not working out of the box I'm not sure. Does the N20 have a seperate SD card wth the maps on? I tried to check myself but I'm having some problems with the Navman site at the moment. Sad

My wife called up Navman tech support this morning. They talked her through logging onto the navman server with the N20 connected to the Pc, this apparently activatyes the maps and sofware and didn't need any activation keys as the server recognises the navman unit once connected. Nothing in the intructions about this and certainly mine worked straight out of the box? I therefore suspect that the software should have been activated before it left the factory.... Anyway all is working now.
