A recent email from Garmin said: "Garmin Safety camera data has the most accurate safety camera data, most frequent updates and now we’ve reduced the cost of yearly subscriptions to just £29.99."

So unless they've reduced it again it's still considerably more than the PGPSW one.

And can they really claim it's the most accurate and most frequently updated? What about the Trade Descriptions Act, which makes it "an offence for a trader to apply, by any means, false or misleading statements"? Confused

sorry anita, i wasn't implying that they had dropped it to an equal amount as ours, just that they had dropped the price!

should have been clearer...

Wasn't being critical, MaFt, just saying that even their reduced price is considerably more than 'ours', unless they've reduced it further.

I really posted to point out Garmin's claim that theirs 'has the most accurate safety camera data' & 'most frequent updates'.

You can even get it to speak a warning as you approach a camera, it will say "safety cam UK Tomtom 100 yards"

Yes but you can't get it to say the speed limit like you can with the one from this site (or any POI based database).

After having accidentally added the TT database as well as the PGPSW one Ive always used, I've now got the TT one set up to say:
"F*** me, I've actually found a camera!", whenever it registers one! Laughing

(Just a little kid at heart! Rolling Eyes )

Andy, what does it say though when it thinks there is a camera at a location, but in reality there is nothing at the location Laughing - Mike

IIRC, the 'ver' files are just a version number and the files are used by Home to help it's tiny brain work out what the POI files are (that's why ordinary 3rd party POI files don't show up on Home any more).
Delete away.... (or why not just move them to a backup somewhere, in case you should ever want to see just how bad they are Laughing )

Thanks Andy
I am putting the PGSW speed cams on the 710 as I got a free traffic /speed cam on the 720 I just got, but it cant be on both machines ( ridiculous really, a limit of say 2 units per owner yes but a separate subscription to a crap database! never)

I'd be interested to hear your comparison of the two. When you realise ours is better you can always replace TomTom's with ours!

Don't forget you can put the PGPSW one on the 720 too (no rules against that) and run them side by side. You soon realise which one is best then!
