Can anyone help me figure out what has happened here. My wife and i bought a 910 for my father in law last christmas, knowing that we would be using it for going to florida at some point. Before that time we used it in Portugal and it was great, although it took quite a few minutes for it to eventually find us when we switched it on there.
When we arrived in Miami and picked up the hire car we switched on the Tom tom, and waited, .....and waited.........and, well, nothing!! We didn't get anything picked up on it at all.
When i had a good look over the unit, checking that it was working fine, there is a point on the signal screen that i pressed and it gives a 'spec' of the tomtom including serial. It says something like ' western and central europe' but nothing about USA!!!
Have we ben stupid here in just presuming that the unit came pre-installed with the maps? The only other thing i can think of is that the unit crashed about 2 months ago, and i had to press the 'reset' button.
If it's even possible i can download the maps while we are here, then i could possibly install them.
Any help and advice would be really appreciated.

Change Preferences/ Manage Maps/ Switch Map and from the list you need to select the USA map, the device is not capable of selecting a map based upon where it actually is (that would be too simple - although it would be nice) - for now its a manual map selection that you must make - Mike |
