The charger for my mobile phone has the same connection socket as my new Tom Tom One XL. Does anyone have any experience of using a similar charger?

Will I end up 'frying' my Tom Tom or is it ok?

Thanks

As it is a mini USB connection it will work, BUT you might find the car charger doesn't supply sufficiant current to charge the One whilst using it, you would be better suited employing the One XL charger on the phone when needed and keep it powering the One XL when the mobile is not requiring a charge, better still get a ciggy socket splitter to supply both devices at the same time - Mike

Actually I should have been more specific - I meant a mains operated phone charger - thats why I am afraid of 'frying' the XL.

Sorry - my fault!

Thanks for the advice though.

All chargers using a USB plug/socket will supply the correct 5 Volts to whatever device is connected.
We are still debating on the forums whether a device with the USB symbol on it is allowed to demand more than the 500mA specified by the USB organisation, but whatever the answer to that one, you should be OK but the speed of charging may be affected.
