I have the same problem with SD cards - you insert the SD card and it refuses to boot. I have reformatted the card but this has not fixed it.

I am able to install the USA maps using HOME but then I insert the SD card and it refuses to accept the maps are there....

I have also found that if I remove and then reinsert the SD the voice is not selected anymore.

I've also had this happen to me.

I now find that TTHome does not see the 720, for remote operation, if I have an SD card installed.

Come on Tomtom, recall now.

I too have experienced problems with SD cards. I tried a 32mb Canon SD (came with my camera) which would not work at all. Got the Red X on boot up and device would shut itself off. I tried my other 2Gb Kingston MicroSD card in the SD adapter and was able to transfer files onto it and have the device pick up the mp3's and play them. Going to try a 2Gb ATP SD card when I pick it up later today.

I just got a SanDisk 2GB SD, which when installed prevented the 720 from connecting to the computer. When I put a mp3 directory on it, it worked fine. Loads of room ... about 2 GB.

I have been experiencing the same problems mentioned here, after initially having lots of problems getting HOME to recognise the TT720 was connected (with or without SD card).

Now, if I remove the SD card, Home does NOT recognise the TT720 is connected to the computer.

When I insert the SD card (either Sandisk Extreme III 2GB or Transcend 150x 4GB cards) it DOES recognise the TT720 is connected to the computer but only recognises it has an SD card, NOT internal memory, hence I cannot install updates to the TT720 internal memory whatsoever!!!

If I disconnect from the PC the TT720 boots up and works okay irrespective of whether there is an SD card installed or not!

Really strange things going on here and if I cannot connect the TT720 to the PC and access its internal memory, then TomTom are presumably in breach of some kind of UK law re: 'Fit for purpose intended' or supplying product as described etc etc. My belief is they have a legal responsibility to fix this issue either by updates or product recall/replacement.

How can they sell the Mapshare feature of the product if you cannot connect the TT720 to HOME to use it?

I realise some users (including myself) have been able to connect to TT Home and check for updates etc but there is clearly a bug which results somewhere down the line after playing with SD cards, it all stops working properly.

I assume TomTom DID actually test the SD slot with different cards BEFORE they released the product? Having worked in IT for 18 years I am certain these issues should have been easily detected at the product testing stage!!!

As this is my first TT standalone unit (have been using it on a Pocket PC for last 4 or 5 years) I am so far very unimpressed!

As you say, it's strange things with your unit. However your contract is with the store you bought it from - everything yousay about "fit for purpose" etc. applies to them. Take it back and get a replacement unit (or a refund if you've had enough of TomToms).

Just set up a Sandisk Extreme III 2GB with my TT 720.

All went well, I created a folder named MP3, then a sub folder called MyComp, and then dumped 200 MP3 files in that folder. All files were seen by the 720 "JukeBox" and play ok.

Hi, I have a 2gb Kingston sd card, created a folder called mp3/mycomp. as sugested and copied some mps's to it. When I connect the tt720 to the comp. and open the M drive (my tt sd card ) it shows all the mp3's, but I can't find them in TT Juke box or anywhere else. Idea's would be very much appreciated.

Regards David

Which one of you is right? - I've heard rumours that it's case sensitive.
