Can anybody offer me some advice?
I am currently using a Mio 268+ with V2 and Poi Warner for speed cams. It works really well.
I'm very tempted to upgrade to V3 because of the 7digit postcode facility.
Has anybody any experience of the following?
Can you use the PGPSW data base for speed cams with 268+V3 ?
If so, what software do you use to transfer to the 268+ from the PC ?
Or are you just limted to using the mio database supplied ?
Basically, If it can be done, How do you do it ????
Any advice gratefully received ( and faithfully applied!)[/b] |

The link you posted refers to Miomap V2 and POI warner which I have been using for the last two years. My question was regarding Miomap V3 and if anybody has had any experience of it yet. Thanks anyway. |

Yes - I have used v3.2 and changed to TT Navigator 6 because of its superior handling of the camera database, among other things!! Drop me an email (see my profile) if you want further information. |

Ok, I took the plunge and loaded Miomap V3.2 on to my Mio268+ It was very easy. After about 2 mins of investigation I found loading the PGPSW camera data base couldn't be easier.
V3 seems to run from the SD card, so take out the SD card, put it in a card reader and copy the extracted PGPSW database (V3 version of course SpeedCams.mtc) to the directory \miomap\miotc\pois replacing the original. Simple.
When it's updated, just do the same again. I have written a small bat file to do this for me. But it's easy to drag and drop.
OK, so it's a bit of a pain having to take the SD card out of the 268+ but at least you know the cams are up to date.
I'm currently looking to try and subsitute the rather feeble speed cam warning tones for the ones from my POI warner. if I find out how to do this I will post again. |

Hi Citori did you ever manage to change the warning tones? |

Hello octavia5, Sorry about the slow reply, been away. I did make a little progress with the sounds, but not much. If you take the camera warning as an example: it seems that the system is set to play the warning every second or so. Hence if you substitue a longer wav file, it tries to play it over itself several times and it sounds a mess. I don't think there is a lot we can do about this as it seems to be embeded in the application... I think we are stuck with the bleeps unless somebody cleverer than me is able to figure it out. |
