When driving in Spain be careful on a roundabout, the Spanish do not know how to use them, I've lost count of the number of who when in the right hand lane think it's perfectly fine to turn left on the roundabout. Also, some drivers when in the right hand lane with you in the left hand lane think it is also normal to go straight across the roundabout forcing you to either slam on or side swipe them.

It also seems that using indicators is not compulsory in Spain. Parking wherever you want to is perfectly normal, even on zebra crossings.

One very basic thing ( don`t know if it`s been covered yet)
is switch your sat nav on as soon as you are out of the airport building. When travelling long distances between power ups , it can take a long time to find the satellites ...ten to fifteen mins in my case , as I found out a few weeks ago when I was parked up on a portuguese no stopping road panicking while my 910 ( brilliant piece of kit by the way ) decided to join me and co-operate !

Its worse in Greece. The official handout with a car I hired on one island said
".. do not worry if the car in front suddenly turns off the road without using his indicator. It probably does not work anyway."

Hey guys,

Rather than start another thread can someone please answer me a question....

I am selling my laptop before I leave.

As far as backing up my TT what would you advise?

Should I restore it to the original and leave it? Can I burn it to disk so that I can keep my poi's etc?

Thanks

Buy a second SD card and copy all the stuff to that. Then you will have a backup you can use on the road.

Why sell the laptop? There's a lot of wi-fi points around these days. I've been around Europe and used the laptop on an almost daily basis in hotels, restaurants and internet cafes...even public parks!!

Is burning it not an option?

I guess I will get an SD card. Does it matter what brand, and then what the heck do I do? Laughing

Back to the trip......

What is the best way to cross the channell based on your experiences?Does it matter? I looked at the ferry down to Santander and it was arounf £500 8O

Looks like we are driving!

Hey guys.....

Is there another website to download POI's?

I'm specifically interested in campsites, cheap hotels, and possibly family hostels?

( I've never stayed in a hostel, is it a decent option?
