I currently make a lot of use of an iPod in the car connected to my TT910. I have recently acquired an iPhone and am interested to know if anyone has successfully connected an iPhone to the TT yet. I'm loathe to try it in case I do any damage.

From what I have read the iPhone does not have Stereo Bluetooth Audio or a Bluetooth headset support profile, so I doubt you will get them to work at all until Apple sort out the device to make it useable, try pairing it but I doubt you will get anything, this action should not damage anything at all - Mike

Red herring Mike, the iPod (which Im currently using) doesn't even have Bluetooth at all. I'm talking about connecting via the standard iPod connector - that's why I was concerned about potential damage because I am connecting via a physical connector. I'm sure there'll be no problem because the iPhone will plug into a standard iPod music dock - however I wouldn't put anything beyond TT's ability to cock things up, that's why I'm just a little bit loathe to plug it in and wait for the blue smoke, particularly when you consider it's not exactly straight forward to take an iPhone into a UK Apple Store and say can you fix this please.

in all honesty, manufacturers build in safety feature that should prevent damage this way.
If it works on a standard dock/pc cable, then is will work via the tomtom.
Note, the tomtom does'nt power the Ipod, it only communicates with it.
BTW, where and how much for the iphone?

I know, but ....

I know I'm being super cautious but I could imagine a scenario where there was an unused pin on the iPod which was never documented, is now used by the iPhone, and TT chose for some reason to stick +12V down that pin.

eBay, £400

I suppose if it was my £400 on the line, I'd be cautious too.
