|
|
I have recently purchased a Tomtom One XL with 675.1409 maps. Looking at the map around Heathrow the M4 Extension into Heathrow is shown as the A408 and if ask for a route from Central London to Heathrow it takes me off the M4 at J3. Not being familiar with this part of the country I am not sure how long the Heathrow Extension has been around but it shows up on my 2004 version of Autoroute Express and would appear to be the best route to Heathrow from the east. Is this just an example of Teleatlas mapping being bad or is there something about the M4 Heathrow extension that I don't know about? |

I just tried a route here and it correct takes me along the M4 and off at M4/J4 along the A408 (Link Road) and into Heathrow. Are your maps TeleAtlas or Navteq?
Google Maps also know the link road as he A408, Navteq don't appear to indicate any designation. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Hi,
I've just calculated 4 journeys to each of the existing terminals from Chiswick and Terminals 1, 2 & 3 journeys take me via M4 J4 Spur road A408, the Terminal 4 run takes me off at J3 and down the A30.
I haven't got the same maps as you but thought that maybe the fastest option wasn't set, you're not asking for the shortest route are you?

J3 would be correct for Terminal 4 which is on the Southern side of the airport. _________________ Darren Griffin |

Not at all, I meant to say that perhaps the OP had planned a route to Terminal 4 in error? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Interesting replies - thanks. I have the Teleatlas maps. I used 'advance planning' and input 'city centre' London as start and entering 'city centre' Heathrow as destination I was offered London Heathrow Airport, which I accepted. I have now redone it using POIs 'Heathrow Terminal 1' and 'Heathrow Terminal 4' as the destinations and it routed me via J4 in both cases.
When the Heathrow POIs appear on the 'pick a destination' screen you can only see 4 'London heathrow airport: termi.......' entries. After a bit of experimenting I found them to be listed in reverse numerical order. My extra wide XL display didn't help me here |

...and if you don't want to select the item you've "tapped and held", slide your finger off to the edge of the screen before lifting it up. |
