hi... I just bought the database... I went to the instructions page (http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/uksafetycameras-navman-icn.php) to follow the steps but when I was going to open the .asc files I couldn't open them. On the "Open" window the filetype is predefined as .csv and I can't manage to change the filetype. Is there a way to change it? |

The icon you mention is actually a second Gatso camera (there are two, one for each side of the road at this location) - I am not too sure why the icon appears distorted though, perhaps the screen refreshed while I took the screen capture? - Mike |

I too am new to this game and have been struggling with speed warnings on my Navman N60i. I have it working now with spoken speed warnings and decent sized icons. This is what I do, it's a bit of a pain but it works for me.
First download the sound files from amn gps4 (do a Google search and you will find them)
I then produced icons larger than the pgpsw ones using Photoshop Elements. If you are happy with the size of the pgpsw ones then fine, they also work. The maximimum icon size is 32 by 32 pixels. I find that a coloured background dependant on the type of camera and the speed limits in thirty point for the first number (2,3,4 etc), which is the important bit you want, plus a ten point zero is very visible.
I then download the full Garmin version of the database, which is in the correct .csv format. A word of warning, the Navman will only accept 25 custom POI files. If you instal more then alerts seem to screw up. If you want to include the provisional mobile data then I just tag the provisional data at each speed on to the end of the mobile data by cut and pasting the two together in Excel. Just remenber to save the output in .csv form.
All that is left is the drudgery of downloading the files one at a time using the Navman Smart ST desktop. As you download each one you link in the icon and sound file of your choice.
The final step is to make sure that the Navman speed camera alerts are turned off. |
