I have been using TomTom Navigator 5 on a iPaq for some time now I decided time to move to a dedicated GPS with TMC. Navigator 5 has a number of features which I took for granted and have discovered not in the F30. Features such as Alternative Route and avoid road block.

Unfortunately for me it gets far worse, the navigation compared to the TomTom is really awful.

Take one example, I live in Slough and travel to the North East on a regular basis via the M1. To get to the M1 both TomTom and F30 have me leaving Slough via the M4/M25 which is perfectly reasonable. Because of the part of Slough I live in there is a quicker way for me to get to the M25 which TomTom calculates correctly when selecting an alternative route. As the Navman does not offer an alternative route it does a recalculation when I head off on my preferred route it then proceeds to take me down what is virtually a single track 'No through' road.

I accept that no Satnav system can ever compete with local knowledge but that I consider to be a serious flaw, very worrying. Sad

It's not a flaw as such, it's just that you haven't paid for premium features so you didn't get them. Navman's Fx0 devices have a reduced set of functionality compared to Navman's Nx0 devices, which is reflected in the price.
