I used my Tom Tom One for the first time in about a month today. However the positioning was all over the place - generally it seemed to be about 100 yards out, either behind or in front of where I actually was, and whenever I changed direction seemed to position me in a parallel side road or off to the side of the main road that I was actually on. It also seemed to jump out of position at roundabouts and road junctions.

This meant that the instructions were either early or late, or tried to direct me from a road that I wasn't actually on. It also messed up the speed camera warnings.

I reset the unit but it made no difference

Does anybody have any idea what may be wrong and, more importantly, how to correct it? :x

Sounds like it had some corrupt data, I'd suggest leaving it switched ON somewhere that it can get a good signal for 30 mins or so.

It sounds like a SiRFIII bug where it can get confused, normally a reset and letting it reaquire a signal whilst stationary will resolve matters.

I had it switched on for over 2 hours whilst driving today - always had at least 7 or more satellites locked on

I am aware that QuickfixGps should not do anything to resolve the situation with regard to slightly inaccurate satnav placement but................we all know that TT sometimes do strange things. And with the unit not having a fix for a month .....well, its likely to have withdrawl symptoms.

I just wonder if hooking it up "home" and letting it get a fix might assist in curing it of its delirium. They need a fix on a Friday night I believe.

Tried Darren's solution - reset and left unit stationery for 30 minutes - but it has made no difference - its still placing me about 100 yards away from where I am am - either on another road or in the middle of a park. (that's just at home!)

Does anyone have any other ideas? Confused

This also happened to me yesterday - in a rental car in Northern Ireland - from Omagh to Aldergrove airport it had me on the right road for about 50% of the time. Then again in my own car from Luton Airport to home. I thought it may have been the new firmware that i installed - 6.522. So I'll try a reset and get a stationary fix.
