Have just downloded the camera database single file for my Tom Tom one ver 2. Sorry about this am very very new noobie to this!
First question: Have I downloaded the correct version as there does not seem to be very many files. 2 Will these new files tell me the speed limit when approaching a camera location or should I have downloaded the more comprehensive database? 3 what is the .toc file and do I need to load this to my TT or just the files in the filing cabinet (.cab file)?

thanks, Paul. Not Worthy

Hi, Bought a TomTom ONE last weekend, so I'm no expert yet, but, I managed to download the Speed Zoned version, with voice warnings, its all working ok. The reason there isn't many files is because you downloaded the single version, it will work, but you will not get a warning of the speed limit. The single vertion tells you a camera is up ahead, the consolidated tells you a Gatso, or a Mobile camera is ahead etc, the speed zoned tells you a gatso at 50mph etc is ahead. If you download the voice warnings too, you can have a voice tell you instead of getting the TomTom bells etc. Sugest you have a read of the forums, especially the TomTom forum, and BEFORE, you start downloading things, you need to make a FULL backup of your TomTom SD card, onto your pc, and I would buy another, bigger SD card, and copy the backup onto the new card, then use the new card, and keep the original as a Master copy. Start by reading here.

If you have any more questions, just come back here, and ask away.

Paul, you have down loaded the speed camera database that is compatible with TomTom Home, have a read of Oldboys post which can be found Here it explains where to put the files so the TomTom Home package can locate the files.
Once the files are in the right place Home will simply upload the files to the sat nav device.

Other users of the database (including Tanda and myself to name but a few) use the ov2 file format for downloading the speed cameras, this method is installed using Windows Explorer

As a note to myself and others we need a more comprehensive set of instructions to accompany the TomTom Home style download, there is very little on the site for this - another job for the weekend - Mike

Table of Contents. It holds the list of Files that the CAB File contains, and also where they are to go.

So does this toc file need to be loaded to my TT or just the file in the .cab folder?

Paul.

Please have a read through This - its not 100% complete as I need to add the section at the end showing how to configure the Speed Camera POI files on the device, but it should show you what to do with the download AND how to get them installed to the device, I appreciate it looks a lot to take in, but in reality the installation doesn't take too long - Mike

Thanks Mike and all. Have managed to get the database loaded on my unit ok will test later. Mike, using Home looks a better and simpler option to me, well done, will try that method next time and look forward to you completing the instructions. One thought, will Home automatically load the voices as well?

Paul.

If you mean the ogg files for the Speed Camera Warning with Spoken alerts Home will not install them for you at the moment, nice idea and something to look at though - not too sure if it will be possible, but until now nobody has asked for this AFAIK

As for using Home to install the Speed Cameras, yes it is easy, but most of us use the traditional ov2 drag and drop, it is different, but as you say it is easy once the PC is configured and you know where to extract the files to during the unzip part of the installation- Mike
