Here's a question for anyone who's bought a TT One Europe in the last few weeks ... what map version did you get?
I only ask because, following on from the current discussions about map updates, etc. elsewhere in the forum, I e-mailed Handtec (who seem to have pretty much the best price on Ones at the moment) to ask whether they were supplying units with the new maps or whether their stock was still the previous version. They replied to say that the ones they're supplying are on version 5.460 maps!! Now, am I mistaken, or are those maps now extremely old (in Tomtom terms)? |

I find that pretty hard to believe.
V6 maps were launched in late November 2006, so they must have VERY slow-moving stock! |

Until all these new v675's came out last week, v660 seemed to be latest of virtually all maps apart from the USA/Canada which was v665 |

An update ...
The first e-mail I got from Handtec was this :
"We can confirm that the system comes with the 5.460 version maps."
However, I've just received another which says this :
"We have just been notified that the information previously supplied was incorrect and strangely came from TomTom direct.
The mapping software version is actually 6.560 and not as previously suggested.
Please accept our sincerest apologies regarding this issue."
So, given that a lot of comments on this forum from people using 6.75 Western Europe maps suggest that 6.60 is actually a better (i.e. more detailed) version, is there any noticeable difference between 6.60 and 6.56? |

6.560 is the software version number NOT the actual map release number so they have made another mistake
Have a look at This Page for the map vs software chart, I would ask them again, but this time to confirm both the software version AND the map release version - Mike |

Looking at the chart, it seems that software build 6.560 can only possibly be either v.605 or v.660 maps - I'd guess that 605 maps are very old now, and highly unlikely to be found on a brand new unit?
I'll e-mail them again and ask, anyway. |

v660 Navteq are the absolutely newest available Navteq maps, and as up-to date as they can be
v675 are Teleatlas maps
A bit confusing because there were v660 Teleatlas maps too |

I'm finding all of these map versions very confusing.
I bougth a 710 last week. It's map version is 650.1047
Apparently this is one in need of up-grading.
TomTom replied saying "The map you have on the Go unit means you are not entitled to a free map upgrade (this is only available with version 6.6 of the map). If you are not happy about this decision, please use the details of the link below to send in a complaint. The Customer Relations department are the only department able to reverse this decision"
So if you buy a BRAND NEW device with what I think is an out of date map you don't get an upgrade but if you are lucky enough to get a BRAND NEW device with a later map you can also have an up-grade. In short nobody seems to take responsibility for a device sold as new but which has gone out of date while in the shop stock room (in this case MAPLINs)
Have I understood all of this correctly? |

Apparently this is one in need of up-grading. | I recently bought a 910 with 650 Maps.
TTs response to my question about upgrading Maps was "don't bother. You'll see very little difference". _________________ Richard

Just keep sending new tickets via the website. Open a new one don't re-open the old one. The moron tomtom CS who replied to you probably didn't even read the bit where you said the tomtom was only a week old. |
