Tevets,
Suggest you download a max of 20 entries and combine using show link renumbering downloads as xxxx1, xxxx2 etc and then appending them them in poiedit and resaving them as the entriy you want, this is the only way i can get them to work, this problem is well documented on the forum and still no issues resolved. |

Hi Guys
I’m fairly green at all this satnav stuff but I have been using a PocketPC with TomTom5 loaded and I just love it!!!
Someone installed it all for me and I have been using POIs but I just downloaded some of the stuff using IE7 and saving the ZIP. All OK but I noticed that the Steam Trains that I have copied into my map directory does not show up in the POI lists anywhere.
Is there something special I have to do to make it visible to TomTom or is there a limit to number of categories allowed?
Most grateful for any guidance.
Thanks. |

If you are using TT5 then the limit is 39. TT6 upped this to 100. _________________ Richard

Thanks for the swift response, Richard.
Is there any way to combine OV2 files?
I wondered if something like POIEdit has that capability. I know I should go and look but I could search for ages and still not find it.
If not I will have to wait for TT6 |

Yes. POIEdit does have a combine facility. You Open the First File, then Append subsequent Files. ;) _________________ Richard

Limit your download to max 20 sub category files and use show link, if you want more than 20 files then download next 20 and rename download file to xxxxx2, to avoid overwritng first file, do again if you need more,i.e. shopping category, then load first file into poedit and append other file(s) into it and save, you then have complete set of POI,s unfortunately it is one of the well documented problems of the database. |

Hi,
I recently started using the POI's on my Garmin Nuvi. Superb by the way - thanks to everyone who implemented this!!!
I have a small improvement for all us Garmin users who use the bluetooth feature on the satnav.
If U save a favorite, or view one of the built-in POI's on the 610T you can press a red phone icon next to the number to call that number. The current.gpx file shows the entry as:
{name}HOME</name}
{sym}Residence</sym}
{extensions}
{gpxx:WaypointExtension}
{gpxx:Address}
{gpxx:StreetAddress}99 Anystreet</gpxx:StreetAddress}
{gpxx:City}London</gpxx:City}
{gpxx:State}County</gpxx:State}
{gpxx:PostalCode}AB1 1A</gpxx:PostalCode}
{/gpxx:Address}
{gpxx:PhoneNumber}02081111111</gpxx:PhoneNumber}
{/gpxx:WaypointExtension}
{/extensions}
{/wpt}
{wpt lat ="51.413898" lon ="-0.765156"}
{ele}72.945190</ele}
{/wpt}
{wpt}
On the POI Database a number is (sometimes) displayed but it will not integrate into the phone. The format seems to be:
. EN* Youth Hostel Association, Achmelvich Beach
EN
+448700041102 ? 5 s- )
Is there any way to format the record so the number works in bluetooth. It would be really useful.
thanks.

I've just bought a tomtomone and have been putting some POI on from on here. Things like KFC and Burger King work fine, where others like Public Toilets and some of the others (Vision Express - only tried if cos I work there!) just don't seem to find any when trying to navigate to them. Am I doing something wrong? I just copied everything out of the downloaded zip to the map folder, the same way I did the speed camera POIs.
Cheers |

The first thing to check is that you haven't exceeded the 100 custom POI Limit.
Check how many OV2 Files you have in the Map Folder? If you have more than 100, that's the problem. ;) _________________ Richard

Hi Mike,
I need some help please.
I recently purchased a TT Go 510 and my application version is 6.525
On my tomtom mobile i had the ability to add a voice to a POI - such that if i approached a speed cam or a cash point the software would say "gatso 30", etc. I have been through the pocketgps site and seen instructions...but cannot find instructions for my application version. The site you link to talks about having three files: a ".OV2", a ".bmp" and a ".ogg". However, how do you create a ".ogg" file that will work on a specific POI and do i need to do this for every single POI i want such warnings for...as that would take ages with the speed cameras?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Regards.

For anybody who wants to try compiling a .ogg file try this site:http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/tts/demo.php just type in your sentence download it and then load the downloaded file into audacity and then save as an .ogg, you can only do one file at time, create any phrase you want and you can edit in audacity if required and it is simple.
i.e for public toilets "public toilets ahead anybody want a wee wee" for a humerous phrase, i will leave it at that. |

Instructions are HERE, and OGG Files are HERE.
For how to create your own have a look at This Topic. _________________ Richard
