The three network doesn't work with the TomTom server - if you need pay as you go try Orange or T-Mobile - I know these work, another one to avoid is O2 on PAYG as that won't work either.

There is some useful information on PAYG contracts/ cards and what works to be found Here and its also worth reading This Page for additional information - Mike

Thanks for the tip.
So I have to get:

1.Cheap mobile phone with bluetooth (what's the best choise?)

2.T-Mobile Simcard (how much does it cost if I do updates say every 5-10 minutes?, how much data does tomtom use a day?)

3.TomTom traffic Subscription (27 pounds a year, is it?)

Please help me decide guys I'll be grateful.
Cheers

I have used an update time interval of 10 mins which has used up about 100KB per hour (although the updates will be larger when traffic is very heavy due to more incidents = more data). The exact cost of usage will depend upon the charge made by your phone company/ SIM provider, some can be very costly others are not too bad - shop around via the internet for charges of data via GPRS before deciding on a specific SIM.

For a phone you need to first look at the list of compatible phones that have been tested to work with the TomTom device you own, you can find a list Here which will reduce your options and choice, if a specific phone is not on the list it doesn't mean it won't work - but don't expect any support if its not listed and doesn't work.

The easy option is to go for a phone off the list, as for prices I really don't know as I only use phones supplied under contract (T-Mobile MDA-C-III which was free, its not on the list and only allows hands free communication with my 910).

TomTom Traffic is a subscription service at 39,99 Euros per year - Mike

I only use Pocket PC style phones, these tend to be costly and you run TomTom on the device negating the need for the podded unit, I guess choice is down to you for the phone as I won't be using it Wink just consult the list each time you find one you like the look of - Mike

Hi drapol,

I have a TomTom ONE NE Europe and run TomTom Traffic on it. I use the following:

1. Nokia 6310i phone
2. Orange PAYG SIM card.

Whilst the Nokia 6310i phone, isn't on the approved TomTom list it works very well for me. Also it has the advantage of not having "street cred" (no camera, mono screen).

The Orange PAYG SIM card allows GPRS, now if you want a FREE Orange SIM card have a look here. But be quick as the offer may end very soon.

Regards,

Good advice. Orange PAYG sets itself up and costs approx 10p per hour.
I had exactly the same problem with 3. I used an old Nokia 6630 which 3 unlocked for me for £15.

If you use the TT Traffic with a PAYG phone, does this preclude the use of a different phone for the bluetooth handsfree feature on a 910?

I ask this as I am with 3 and I understand I can't use them for the service?

It's all working fine. Took me a while to configure my phone (I had o2 settings). So I just went to orange.co.uk and got settings. Got my trial activated. Gonna test it in Glasgow mostly.

First day of testing. I went to work. There was a large 20 minute delay on the begining of M74 motorway in Glasgow but TTT never showed it Sad I checked map and it only showed delays on motorways. Unfortunetly it is not showing roadworks and delays on main roads. Maybe it's just in Glasgow? Anyway I'll continue testing Smile
