If you press the Test button, it will stop the channel searching (usually on the next one), Norm returns it to searching, not too sure about Sim.
Be careful, do not go pressing buttons at randon, you could screw your unit up!!! _________________ Nuvi 310 v3.90

If version 4.1 doesn't seem to improve things, I think I'll stop with version 4.0 at least I know I may get some traffic info towards the Midlands. Only 90 miles away _________________ _________________

Hamie
I can confirm that 4.10 works all the way from the A3 at Guildford, western section of the M25, M4, A404M and M40 to Birmingham - uninterrupted all the way ! |

BAVC10 is that connected to the car aerial or just as it comes? |

The Aerial is along the bottom of the windscreen - horizontal. |

Garmin have advised me to to reset the FM tables and try the firmware again to see ig I get my missing stations. The procedure is as follows:
Go to the "view map" option from the main boot up screen. Then press on
the speed box in the bottom left hand corner. You should now see the
Speedometer page. Hold your finger on the Speedo dial at the top of the
screen for approximately 10 seconds. After this time the engineer's
diagnostics page should appear. The first page should be headed
"shutdowns".
Press "Next" at the bottom of the screen until you reach a page headed
FM Table. When on this page, hit the "Reset" button, then select "Yes"
when presented with "Do you really want to clear the FM Table?" now
press "Quit" and then switch the unit off. |

And please be aware that any stray button presses on the other screens within these diagnostic menus may render your unit useless.
Personally, upgrading to 4.1 seems to have made my unit more reliable - still some very large areas of no signal, but that's to be expected. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

I am not sure my unit is as sensitive as it was in previous GTM firmware versions as I am not receiving a signal close to home now even with 4.1 with an amplifier and connected to car aerial. |

Is there any consensus on whether it's better to have the GTM12 aerial horizontal or vertical, on the windscreen? thanks much... |

Bah. |
Just out of interest, I recieved a new TM 12 last week but get no signals or traffic updates whatsoever. I Live in Bridgend between Cardiff and Swansea - anyone managed to get traffic updates in this area? |

I believe the nearest radio mast to you is in Cardiff, so I could easily understand you not getting any signal in Bridgend.
My gut feeling is that 4.1 is no worse than 3.7, but it's very subjective. _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

Well, I'll try anything once to get my GTM12 working, so...
wait for it...
...erm, another failure.

Do you phone Garmin - or have you found an email address where they will reply? I wanted to ask if I could get hold of the older firmware 3.7 for my GTM 21 to compare the reception. (If its possible to downgrade). |
