Splash screen iCN510

Just to be different I've been trying to change the splash screen shown on start up. Identified it as splash1_16bpp_.bmp and created a new one with the same attributes as the original. Copied it into the appropriate folder and restarted the unit. It shows briefly for a few seconds and then reverts to the original one which has been overwritten.... Tried several times with the same result, the old one keeps coming back it haunt me.
Any suggestions, besides give up?

I would'nt try to do that myself, but would deleting the original file that generates the Navman splash screen do the trick The only time that my spash screen appears is when I do a hard reset or connect to MS Active Synch. to load the POIs, so I scarcely ever see it.

Tried that, get the message that it's "in use" so cannot be deleted. Guess I'm stuck with it!
