with reference to northender's last post. It is common to find that companies quietly fix a reported fault despite not admitting it existed in the first place. Wishful thinking maybe! _________________ _________________

If it is looking like Traffic Master and Garmin are not providing the service we have paid for then how about complaints to Trading Standards or even BBC Watchdog, negative press is always un-welcome and may spur these guys into providing a solution.. |

I'm waiting till Mike gets his 310D back to see whether Garmin have got it working. Mike lives in the same area as myself & has had the same problems. _________________ Nuvi 310 v3.90

I've come to the point where I've just about given up trying to use TMC (no signal) because of the hassle. Its been 10 months with Garmin Products - two 310D and i'm on my 2nd 660. It takes 5 minutes to rig up the device because you can't leave it in the car for fear of having the car broken into. Like me I guess alot of other people with similar problems (310D's, 510D and 660's) have either given up or got a full refund on the product.
Maybe the only way is to take it to another level as suggested by taking it to BBC watchdog to raise Garmin's awareness - maybe it will shock them into addressing the problem rather than denying an issue exists. |

I'm thinking the same thing. But I have sent my GTM-21 off to garmin on an RMA and I'll see what comes back from that first. I want to give them the opportunity to say it's broken.
If however they come back & say it's working fine for them in their carpark, I'll seriously consider trading standards, advertising standards and watchdog. |

One problem is that Garmin are located quite close to a transmitter, so it works for them. If only they came to my part of the country for a few days, then they'd discover what it's really like... _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

I live quite close to Garmin's HQ, about 2-3 miles at most. In fact until two weeks ago my wife worked for them !!!! Blooming traffic stuff doesn't work very well for me at all. Occassionally I get two green lights on the cigar lighter power adapter (Nuvi 660) around here but not very often.
I was in Southampton earlier in the week and noticed I had some traffic warnings. Touched the blue diamond and one one warning showed up - somewhere near Aberdeen !!!!! _________________ Red Squirrel

I got a reply from TrafficMaster at last...
Quote: |
Hamish,
Thanks for the email.
We have been made aware that there seem to be reception problems on
certain devices around this area. We are currently conducting tests and
shall report our conclusions to Garmin ASAP.
Please try relocating the antenna within the vehicle, as it seems
certain Garmin devices are having no problems at all.

Hopefully they'll discover that reception is pants & do something... Like increase the number of transmitters used etc... |

High Wycombe/A404(M)/Maidenhead/M4/Heathrow
The only place I've seen a successful signal is the east bound onramp at J8/9(M4), the M4 opposite Windsor (On the raised section, but only when crawling in traffic), and the southern perimeter road at Heathrow.
Oh, and outside the royal berkshire hospital in reading...
