Has anyone managed to import better voices than the ones that come with Navicore?

Really don't like the american one and the blokes one is little low when music/radio is on?

I read somewhere about using some free software to create your own - has anyone tried this or found some on the net?

Thanks

if it's ok with computer generated voices (or recorded), its very easy to generate your own set. check the specks on the wav's included, and do your new ones with same specs.

navicore understands wav, even though 1/2006 comes with a blend of ogg and wav.

when you have created your set, just create a directory amongst the other voices on the card, and call it what you want.

then go and choose this voice

Prob not as up to speed in how to do that. What software is handy and easy to use to record these WAV'sand is there a directory on the card that lists which ones you would need to record and where to store them.

Might have a trial to record my own if i am confident enough

you can use Sound Recorder, which comes with Windows (start-all programs-acessories-enterteinment-sound recorder), or you can use any of the freeware floating around. you just need a microphone connected. You don't want to use a too high quality, since that will use more space on your card. (you might need a freeware record utility for getting the filesize (format) small enough).

Go and have a look at the directories of navicore. The sounds are in a directory that has the same nameas the voice. Actually the name of the voice is picked up from the directory name.

You probably need a card reader for this. I did it some time ago, and generally the navicore files are not visble if you use the pc-file browser software on a infra red/cable/bluetooth connection.

What files are needed and what are their content?

I simply listened to the files under the "name" directory. Then I wrote the name and content on a simple spreadsheet and after that I created the files with the same or similar content. I saved them in a specific directory and gave that directory a persons first name and copied the directory alongside the factory provided names.

Just out of curiousity, can you use the TomTom voices with Navicore? I know you can convert TomTom POIs.
