Wow after weeks of nothing v4.00 has fixed it for me! Drove around Manchester and over to Warrington and it worked perfectly!
Cheers Garmin (finally!). |

Maybe conditions today are good, will see what happens rest of week.
Will now try and tidy up the aerial so not seen. |
I tthink I got better reception with the aeriel lying along the dash too rather than vertically as I have it now. I plan to move it back to the horizontal tomorrow. _________________ Red Squirrel

Went to work and back yesterday and in again this morning, 220 miles all in and for me the new firmware is a great success, as good as it was before the last "upgrade" with a blue diamond and tons of traffic from all over the south of England for almost the entire journey.
It took a long time, too long, but fair play to Garmin for not stonewalling, holding their hands up about the cause of the problem and eventually sorting it out. It's taught me a lesson about jumping on the newest release and hopefully Garmin have learned theirs. |

Ditto - although very patchy in Warrington - will need to hook up to the external aerial this weekend. I was getting messages from about 20 miles out of Manchester going in and out from the footy last night. Aerial wire vertical on RHS of windscreen. _________________ Phil |

I've D/L V4 on 660... Under the provider it still displays
Auto-TM TMC... Tm TMC and TMC_Info.. It seems to default
to Tm TMC is this correct?. I got these 3 options under the the 3.90 upgrade.
Havent tried yet to see if actually works.
.

Well, my traffic receiver managed 2 traffic messages this morning, so hopefully it'll improve later today! _________________ Please don't be offended if I do not reply to a PM - please ask questions via the forums. |

My reception seems a bit worse than in previous firmware versions - but that could be subjective.
Can the level of reception be altered by the firmware or is it purely down to the GTM hardware? |

I would have thought this will be the aerial, as the silly bit of cable supplied hasn't progressed a lot, if you look at a Garmin picture of the TMC, they show it stuck horizontaly across the middle of the windscreen, I couldn't drive like that.
I have a friendly Sat Nav installer, who say's he adds onto the end of the wire with a stick-on aerial, which discreetly goes up the side of the screen, so I'm going to see him asap.
You have to remember one of the cables will be an earth sheath.
There are quite a large amount of posts here where members have added in a splitter to the car aerial and swear that works.
Some have used an amplifier.
All of these idea's will possibly invalidate a guarantee.

Sorry, not sure here, would have thought the answer is no, but I'm sure others will reply. _________________ TomTom Go 60

I was e-mailing Mike Alder last night & he's having the same problem as me, no signal since moving to v3.90 & v4.00 GTM software.
He's threatened to drive up to Winter Hill (nearest transmitter to Preston/Blackpool users) & see whether he can get a traffic signal.
He was going to take some screenshots & post the results here, should make some interseting debate if it still deosn't work _________________ Nuvi 310 v3.90

I got some traffic warnings on the 660 this morning !!!!
I was in the works car park, just about to remove the 660, and the blue diamond was lit. Had a quick look and it was warning me about two problems - one in London and one in what looked like Liverpool - not bad but I was in Southampton _________________ Red Squirrel

My journey home diverts me down the M3 past Chandlers Ford at least once a week and although I haven't had to take that route since the V4 upgrade, prior to 3.9 I had no problem with traffic reception coming through there so I guess that the transmission is ok at that point. I'll probably be through there within the week so I'll post what I find, but so far traffic's working fine under V4. |

Add me to the 'still not working' list....
Drove this morning from Manchester Airport to Preston, up the M61 - so pretty much right past the transmitters (I believe).
Looking at the GTM status screen it used to hop between channels constantly, trying to find a lock I’d guess. However now it just sits on channel 68 most of the time with a Mode of 3 (I gather 5 is a traffic channel) and no messages being received. Then occasionally it does a scan to find channels (finds channel 180 but not 179)
If I run an FM spectral scan it finds a number of stations marked with a ‘5’ – which I believe indicates a channel with traffic data – including 105.4 CenturyFM as I’d expect, given I listen to it most days..
But still not blue diamond. |

Just when you thought that you have enough problems updating the GTM to v4, Garmin seem to have left their update hat on and have now updated the software from v 3.2/3.3 to v3.50
This is a list of what is in it -
Changes made from version 3.20 to 3.50:
· Updated Daylight Saving Time dates.
· Able to read a new SMS before sync is complete.
· Changed subcategories in find menu.
· Removed severe weather alert.
· Added Brazil Portuguese voice.
· Added Bulgarian voice.
· Added Lithuanian voice.
· Added Romanian voice.
· Added Serbian voice.
Not sure why all the voice updates, must be for all the illegal immigrants who have bought their Nuvi on benefits.
After the initial download through webupdator the first boot takes ages, it shows - loader/software loading, I thought it had locked up, but be patient, leave it and it will eventually do a “soft” re-boot.
When you go into system/about it now doesn’t show the GTM version so maybe better to sort that out first to see that it works, (hope mine is still working) _________________ TomTom Go 60
