I'm going to connect the TomTom supplied cable for the rider mount directly to the battery. The mains charger is rated at 5V,2A so I think a 1 Amp in-line fuse should suffice for the 12V bike cable. Presumably the voltage is dropped within the mount. Will a 1 Amp fuse suffice?
I notice there are four contacts on the mount - that's supply + and -, what are the other two for?

If you tape over the 3rd one on the mount (2nd one on the RIDER) then you'll disable the 'Safety' menu, meaning you'll have full menu access all the time.

Thanks Tim,

I assume you mean 3rd from the left of the mount, which will correspond to 2nd from the left when viewing the rear of the Rider unit?

Taking pin 1 as being on the left of the mount (viewed from the riding position), as far as I can see, pin 1 is +5V, pin 2 not connected, pin 3 is earth and pin 4 is earth. That suggests it is the grounding of pin 3 which disables the full menu system.

Is the menu disabled whenever the rider is placed in the mount, or is it only disabled when moving?

Having successfully wired up the rider on the bike (using 1 amp in-line fuse) a test ride established all functions working OK, all the time! No restricted menu when riding! So no need to use the tape-over-a-pin fix suggested!
Have I done something wrong, or what?
