theres [removed by Eldar]...selling maps like this is illegal but if you are desperate....
Please refrain from giving this kind of advice or pointers to illegal software on these forums - Eldar _________________ *************************** |

You could always upgrade to v9 maps as this gives full Europe. _________________ Garmin i3 gone (sold on eBay)

In the absence of anything better, there's an enhanced World Basemap on the Garmin website, that has main roads etc on it for Spain (and everywhere else)
See http://www.gpspassion.com/forumsen/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=64350
Basically, it's a .EXE file that is actually intended for the iQue 3600. If you rename it to .ZIP (or open it directly with Winzip etc), you'll find it contains a 32MB replacement GMAPBMAP.IMG (If you just run the .EXE, it'll tell you that you haven't got an iQue 3600 ) |

The i3 already has a European basemap which includes major roads. _________________ Garmin i3 gone (sold on eBay)

Yes, the StreetPilot C510 does too. However, the enhanced World basemap has a bit more detail - and for a lot more places...and it's free!
Eg - close up of Palma, Mallorca :-

YES - on the splash screen, it is described as "World Routeable Highway Basemap V3"
However, it tends to give directions such as "Drive North on ..." etc, rather than "Turn left on...". I can't work out the pattern, as to when it does which.
Also, it's not searchable. In other words, on the StreetPilot C510, you have to use "Browse" Map" to select your destination. (Unless anyone knows a better way). You can save them in Favourites though, so you can prepare them in advance)
Using that method, I got it to successfully calculate a route from Paris to Stockport via Singapore successfully! (20,300 miles ) |

Just to correct myself, on the C510, you can use the "Cities" function. If you select "Near to" - "A different city", you can then type in city names and it lists all the ones worldwide, for you to select from. There is, of course, always at least place with the same name in the USA!
I just tried a sample route from Barcelona to Madrid. Madrid ESP was the 8th in the list... |

If you put this world map on your gps do you have to rename it so it doesn't get confused with what is on the gps already? _________________ Samsung Mega

There's nothing to be gained from having two base maps; it's supposed to be the map of last resort - so I just replaced my existing GMAPBMAP.IMG with the enhanced one. |
