I bought a brand new tomtom 910 from PC world on 29th Dec 06 and recieved it on the 3rd Jan. However, i then flew out on holiday and returned last thursday.

I just opened the tomtom 910 now and noticed when pluging the home charger into the usb holder, the plug in very lose. As soon as i just touch it, it comes out and stops charging. surely this is not normal?

My transformer unit needed replacing by TT.

The replacement was a different design and fits securely now.

I think this must be a know problem as I submitted a query on TomTom's web page and they sent a new one (arrived yesterday). At least that way you get to keep the original as a spare!

I'm now really happy with my TomTom 910.

The virus seems not to have caused any issue and TomTom also sent me out a New Home Dock replacment which is now perfect!

They also gave me a New Winscreen Mount.

Arimus,

Don't waste time by letting TT send you a replacement docking unit.

The fault is in the socket on the end of the transformer. The replacement they sent me was quite different in appearance at the mains plug end - and works fine.

Hi, I too have had problems with the charger plug and home dock on my Tom Tom 910, I sent a support query to tom tom on wednesday and today recieved an Email saying they are sending a new home dock and mains charger.

Exelent service cannot fault the service I have got from Tom Tom.

Well this is my ticket history. A good example of poor CS again Sad

Dear Mr Horton,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

Hi, you can order new dock for free for your device from address below, if you are unable to do that let me know and I send you one.

The charger connection on the home dock is extremely loose - slightest knock and the power cable disconects from the dock base...

Note nowhere in my original post do I mention the windscreen dock... so clicking the newdock link I was full of expectation then got...

Quote:

TomTom has determined that a limited number of Windscreen Docks included with the initial shipments of the TomTom GO 910, TomTom GO 710 and TomTom GO 510 do not perform to the standards we set for our products. These docks can result in a loose power connection or in the device drooping.

Not exactly going to do much for the usb docking station/charger.
