Tomtom reply with :- There are 3 or 4 files on the 910 that will conflict with anti virus software but these are perfectly safe and are 100% virus free and will not harm your computer or the 910 !!!

I have asked for this in writing and ……still waiting

I’m not convinced about this and would be very interested in comments from anyone who has knowledge of computers and computer viruses.

The two suspect files my computer flagged up were

Copy.exe Trojan horse Generic.VDT

Host.exe Trojan horse Generic.VDT

I see you've started a new thread on this issue Malc.

Look, you've claened off the virus and are presumably happy to be using your GO 910. What do you want?

Will it make it any better if TomTom accept responsibility? Big deal!!

As any parent knows - sick happends - get over it mate.

You See Correct BodgerBaz, And Going By Your Reply You Don’t Approve !!!

Well BodgerBaz If You Had Read My Post I Was Asking For Comments From Members Who Are Knowledgeable On Such Things And Its Quite Apparent You Are Clearly Not.

In Answer To Your Question …. Yes I Do Want TomTom To Accept Responsibility If As I Suspect The Files Are Infected

I was Luck , My Anti Virus Was Up To Date And Found These Problems Before Any Damage Was Done …… Others May Not Be So Lucky

The 2 suspect files that you mention do not exist on my unit. They are not a part of the default TomTom package. So did you actually see these files on the TomTom?

In any case, if your antivirus software eliminated them, just get on with enjoying using it. If this is indeed a widespread problem, we will start hearing from other forum members. As for waiting for TomTom to admit liability, don't hold your breath.

Eeeek!! My new 910 was handed to DHL yesterday and according to their tracking system the parcel is now at Milton Keynes. I suppose I'd better introduce it to my PC very carefully when it arrives?

It's not a big problem, these things could happen and if you have an anti-virus installed (as you should) nothing will go wrong. Having said that I also think that TomTom's behavior is irresponsible - they must know about this problem by now and should have issued an alert.

Eeeek! Double Eeeek! Mine's coming from PC World Online. Oh woe is me. It has now left Milton Keynes for their Hatfield Terminal. This is getting like watching a slow 40 tonne lorry coming straight at me with its eyes shut.

Apologies, Eldar, I should have included Laughing in my posts. I have AVG Professional 7.5, licence paid up to July 2008, last updated (automatically) yesterday, last full test (scheduler) today. If I were seriously worried I would be too embarassed to show it here!

So can someone just confirm whether the these are infected versions of files that should be there, or additional files that shouldn't have been there in the first place??
In other words, if someone has them, is a virus scanner going to delete anything that needs to be replaced?
