This model has been out for ovr 6 months now. Any sign?

Just had my car in for a service., the TT mount was situated by he driver side windscreen pillar. Its there because to position it in the cente dash, so it can easily be removed, is a real ball ache! The mechanic pointed out that the pillar contains an airbag and the TT will at least interfere with its operation, break the sat nav, or even cause injury. So I'm after an alternative. Any ideas?

As far as I'm aware no alternative mount is available either from TT or a third party.

You could always try using a self adhesive dashboard disc (available for a couple of quid on eBay) which would allow you to mount the satnav in the centre of the dash within easy reach for use and removal.

Thanks for the update.

Unfortuantely, due to the moulding of the dash, it's curved, that wouldnt work.

Just had a thought, I could stick it to a plain brodit dash mount mount.

Has anyone tried this? Just worried that it would fall off.

None of those are MkV's, the dash layout and vents appear different. Thanks for the suggestion, i'll monitor the site.

Hi

I have made a mod for my mount.

I took my holder apart 5 torx.
Made a T in 1mm soft aluminum with the strait part about 10-15 cm.
And the short axros part same size as the T from the standard holder.
Isolated this new aluminim T with tape and shirnk tube.
An put the thing back togeder.

Sow now i Have the sucktion part with the ball and a black
"T" stickining out of it.
And another part with the connector for x10 and a long aluminum part sticking out of it.

Took my Brodit vent mount made a oval hole with a dremel
same size as where the external GPS connector is siting.
Some like a laying down egg about 40mm long.

Put the connector part throu the hole and bended the aluminum
down and screwed that end to the backside of brodit holder.

went to the car mounted the brodit and monted the TT 710
adjusted the angels so it was nice for me in the driving seat.
Took an hot glue gun ( best glue for this job IMHO)
An made the angels permanent.

So now I have a permant holder on center vent an arm lengt away
for controling my TT 710.

O I just rememberd I from Sweden and have a Lefthand driven car so you probubly want a side vent mont but you are free to further develop my idea.

Have you any photo's of you modification?

This is kind of what I have in mind, but I already have the Brodit Classic Go bracket and was going to modify mine to fit this.

Ok some photos.

On this you can se that GPS connector is coverd but my power and RDS-TMC is connected.

The red arrows show one thing I wrote about.
The long T shaped aluminum coverd with shrink tube attached to that small screw this is taking tha main part of the load.
The semi hard glue is only for angels and preventing rattle.

It's much easier to understand how/what you've done with the pictures, makes the Go very close to the vent this way, rather than being stuck off a fair bit.
