Hello

I have an Ipaq 3830 running Windows Mobile 2002 but would like to update it to Windows Mobile 2003, I have visited the HP website but the upgrade has now closed - does anyone know where I can download the update?

Thanks

The problem with the Ebay versions are they usually an illegal ROM which overwrites ands blanks the asset tag on the iPaq which stops certain software running.

After loads (and I mean loads!!!) of searching, I have finally found the genuine HP upgrade for the iPaq 38xx series to WM2003 and it also allows downgrading to PPC2002. If anyone needs it please let me know and I can upload it to a file site like Yousendit or Sendthisfile.

Here's a link to the file:

http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=5BD9C41B2D63E4AC

This is original HP software, however, they don't post or support it on any of their web sites any more to the best of my knowledge, so I am classing it as abandonware.

The file posted above is for iPaq 383x to 385x non-bluetooth models, here is the bluetooth enabled, genuine HP upgrade for the 387x and above:

http://download.yousendit.com/28585F6B58E26897

Your asset tag will still be intact if you use these, so that Microsoft Reader and Navman software that requires an asset tag will work properly.

These files *should* allow iPaq 38xx series PDA's to run Tomtom 6 under WM 2003, can someone please test these and report back? It may only work with 3850 or above models due to memory capacity requirements.

Hi Merlin,

The links above don't seem to be working anymore. I have the required files to upgrade a 3870 to WM2003 if anyone requires it.

The asset tag can be set so this is not lost during the upgrade.

Regards
CG

I could use a copy of the WM2003 update. I have heard that Navman does not support an Ipaq 3835 with Wm2003 is that correct? I am running Smart ST 2005 if that helps.
Thanks.
