Garmin I3: lost card

My daughter recently bought an I3 but before she had a chance to use it she dropped it. Later she discovered that the mini sd card must have fallen out!
First question: does the card just have maps on it or does it have programs too?
Question2: any suggestions how she can recover the situation? She only needs uk maps. Presumably a map card can be bought?

somei3'sdont have a micro-sd card in them.if you turn it on and it works then you're fine. if not then you should be able to buy a uk card to replace it.
