I find the volume of the proximity alert rather quiet.

If I have the voice guidance on for the navigation, I find the ideal volume is two clicks down from the maximum, yet at this volume the proximity alert (perhaps it's my deteriorating hearing) is too quiet and I keep missing it.

Is there any way I can get the alert tone to be louder without having to set the volume for the entire unit to max as then the voice guidance voice is too high.

I am using the speed camera alert download from this (PocketGPDworld) site.

No.

The 660 has the ability to alter the mp3, handsfree volume separately to the main navigation volume. This extra control may well help you out, and a number of us are hoping Garmin provide this level of control to the Nuvi 3x0 series in a future firmware upgrade.

One trick for being able to notice the tones better - turn off the radio and use the Nuvi's mp3 player - it will mute this whilst playing the tones which makes them stand out more (or you will be drawn to the lack of music, if not the tones).

Thanks Swing. Let's hope it's an upgrade in the future.
