Hi, I have a Navman 3400 jacket for my ipaq but would like to use Tom Tom Navigator 2 as it has better views (imho) and also the speed camera database.

Do I have to sell the navman setup and buy a new receiver or can I use the tomtom software with the navman jacket?

Also, if anybody has views on smartstpro -v- tom tom, I'd appreciate hearing them, and the best receiver from peoples experiences.

Ta

Dick

TomTom works just fine with the sleeve (make sure you keep the sleeve driver installed). No need to uninstall the Navman setup either.

Best receiver? Bluetooth SiRF IIe/LP with long battery life ;-) But then your iPAQ needs to have BT...

Thanks Lutz - it's a 3970 so no probs with BT.

How do you rate TT against SST?

I personally haven't seen SmartST Pro yet (waiting for my US evaluation copy) so I cannot comment on that. Maybe someone in the UK can say a word or two.

I have both pieces of software on a navman 3450 and ipaq 3970,, i seem to use tom tom more than smartst,, a couple of reasons for this,, tom toms map rotates so the arrow is always pointing in the direction you are going, whereas smartst's map is fixed and if you are going forward the arrow/direction indicator could be going down or left/right,, (if you understand what i mean :D ) also i use the add ons like poi/speed cam software. i think it is down to personal preference, i would not have bought smartst as i knew that tom tom was more suited to my needs but i daint have much choice cos smartst came with the sleeve.

Sparkster,

>> tom toms map rotates so the arrow is always pointing in the direction you are going, whereas smartst's map is fixed and if you are going forward the arrow/direction indicator could be going down or left/right,, (if you understand what i mean ) <<

SmartST Pro maps also show 'Track up', but only when a route is set.
