I have TT6 running on a WM5 PPC (without phone).
I have a phone which I have connected to the PPC via bluetooth.
I already have a Vodafone GPRS connection.
I went onto the TomTom website to activate the trial period.
When I go into TT Traffic it says "TomTom Plus could not establish a wireless data connection".
Do I need to set up a special GPRS connection to TomTom?
If so, where do I get the information from? I can't find it on the TT website.

Just had a reply from TomTom support, refusing to help me because my PPC is not on the supported list.
I am pretty sure that the issue is with my mobile phone GPRS connection which has nothing to do with the PPC.
Clearly TomTom do not want my money.

Are there many users of TomTom Traffic?

Try contacting Vodafone to ensure that GPRS is enabled on your handset/account. I'm not with Vodafone, so I don't know if its automatically enabled, or not.

GPRS is definitely enabled. I use WAP regularly.
When I tried TT Traffic it came back with a "no connection" almost instantly.

What I am not sure of is if there is "GPRS Wap" and "GPRS Internet" and the call centre people don't understand what I am talking about.
There is some software called ConnectMe which might help but is only supposed to work for up to PPC2002.

I use Vodafone for my TTT and the settings they sent to my phone were wrong - they only worked on WAP.

If you go to this thread (7th post on there):
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=47404
you will see what I had to change my settings to to enable it to work properly.
Obviously I use a different phone to you, but the settings are all there - you'll just have to enter them differently into your GPRS device.

Hope this helps, as I know it's frustrating that no-one here seems to want to help when they've got theirs working. I was hoping people would enter their settings on that thread, but it's obviously too much like hard work for some people! Rolling Eyes

Thanks for responding.
I have spoken to Vodafone again, and I am set up for Contract Internet.
I don't see how I can set up the configuration on the phone (6230i). I am sure it was much more under my control on my previous phone (6230)
They have promised me a call back, when they have checked this out.

Assuming I can get the phone set up correctly, how do I connect to TomTom Traffic?
I have a Pocket PC which is connected by bluetooth to my mobile.
Do I connect the phone to a website first, then use TomTom, or does TomTom make the connection itself? Or do I try setting up the browser on the PPC using the mobile as the modem?

I've no idea how a PPC works with it, but with my mobile and TomTom ONE V2 all I do is switch on my TT and Enable Traffic and it connects to my mobile via bluetooth, using it to connect.
I don't have the phone connected beforehand etc, but I had previously paired it to my TT.

The settings Vodafone sent to my mobile were locked, but I have the capability to copy the settings, and the copy isn't locked, so I edited the copied settings and made them the default.

NOTE: my APN is pp.vodafone.co.uk as I'm on PAYG, if you're on a contract this will be different and Vodafone should tell you what it is for you.

I have now set up TomTom plus by connecting the PPC to my wireless network.
When I switch off the wireless network connection and enable bluetooth, in TomTom Plus the "enable wireless connection" is greyed out, despite the PPC and mobile phone being paired.

Finally succeeded.
I set up a new connection (start, settings, connection) using the information in the linked posting, then set that connection to be the default connection. Went into TomTom.
Enable wireless connection is still greyed out, but when I went into Edit TomTom Plus Account, even thought I did not amend user or password, it went through the connection process.
After that TomTom Traffic started working.
Thanks to all those that provided help on this one.
Hopefully this post will help others as well
