Not wishing to "reinvent the wheel", has anybody got a full set of .ogg sound files already named for use with the PocketGPSWorld camera database? If you have could you either email me a zipped copy, or better still post them up on a website for people to download? Thanks! Thumbs Up

As a reminder, here are all of the .ogg files that are needed to mix and match:

This will depend upon the camera download you are currently running, so I have listed three sets of file names for the ogg sound files:

For those using the Single file download:

pocketgps_uk_sc.ogg

For those using the consolodated by type file download:

pocketgps_uk_gatso.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile.ogg
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs.ogg
pocketgps_uk_temp.ogg

For those using the Speed Zoned file type download:

pocketgps_uk_gatso_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_40.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_50.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_60.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_70.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_gatso_var.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_40.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_50.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_60.ogg
pocketgps_uk_mobile_70.ogg
pocketgps_uk_moblie_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_20.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_30.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_40.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_50.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_60.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_70.ogg
pocketgps_uk_specs_tba.ogg
pocketgps_uk_redlight.ogg
pocketgps_uk_temp.ogg

Use the above as a tick list to compile your file list, most of the above are available already, only the mobile 20 and gatso 20 require creation for a full set.

These are the Zoned ogg files already renamed by me.
They are the 22050Hz version.
For 20, TBA and temp files, I have used the standard term Gatso, Specs and Mobile.
EG, Warning, Gatso ahead, warning, Mobile camera ahead etc.

Download files from here.

Thanks for the link. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to download them at work, so I used Ray Flanagan’s .ogg voice files of Liz Whitaker at 22050 Hz.

You can use either method:
If you install an ogg file that coresponds to a POI category then the device will use this by default and not offer a selection of warning.
If there is no coresponding ogg file you are offered the choice of warnings contained within the data.chk file.
A combination of both is possible for the POI's - I only use a single ogg warning on my 910, TTS for the remainder, but I have tried the same on TTN 5,21 and mixed the data.chk warnings with the ogg warnings, and it is fine.

The one restriction is you cannot try to use an ogg warning AND then data.chk warning for the same POI it is simply one or the other - Mike

As a footnote to the above post, just tried putting the (correctly) named ogg files in on my phone:

Details are:

Imate SP3 Windows Smartphone.
TT Mobile 5 v5.200 (4450)
Put the original data.chk file back in.

DOES NOT WORK on this setup, can only select the original sounds.

I think you may need to encode the files for TTM at 16khz. Just a thought and recollection.

A note for all you TT5ers out there.:

This is for TT6 only

The opening post says:

TomTom have made us aware of a new way to use custom POI warnings in TomTom 6 versions

You can save your self a lot of hard and pointless work by simply not trying the ogg fix and getting the data.chk files for poi warnings.

IF you have TTN6 go for it, I will be.

Happy sat-naving

That might be what it says, but trust me this works on my PDA running TomTom Navigator version 5,21 - I only tried out of curiosity and was surprised to be honest when it worked, but IT DOES WORK ON TTN 5,21 - Mike

Curiouser and curiouser....
Do you want me to try putting an ogg file on a Go (running v5 software) to see if that works too?
Or has that already been tried?

Give it a try Andy and let us all know, I don't have the hardware to try it on a Go unit running version 5 - no harm in trying! - Mike

Privateer has just tried this new method using TomTom Navigator version 5,1 and confirmed it works fine (cheers Robert)
To date we know it works on 5.100, 5.210, and version 6

This has to be the best add-on since sliced bread. Hooray, no more bloody alarm sounds to blast you into the back seat. My partner hated Evil or Very Mad the the alarm sounds, but this has calmed the beast :D

Hi Guys

thanks for the information I downloaded the files from ray’s site, just spent nearly an hour renaming and copying ogg files also found some of the speed files had under score missing added the under score between SPECS60 e.g. pocketgps_uk_SPECS_60.ogg and all worked. I now have a full set

I then deselected the speed cam poi’s restarted tt reselected the speed cam poi’s and I'm pleases to report that it all works on my ipaq 2110 with ttn 5.210

Laughing
