the other week i bought a global-sat sirf star III bc-337(cf card). i am using it with tom tom 3 on a hp ipaq 2215. the gps gets a lock on the position very quickly however, as soon as i start driving the instructions are up to 300 yards out - which means i am missing turnings as they are always late. i have contacted tom tom (who gave me no help at all) and the company i bought it from (who have also not helped). i have no idea if the problem is the gps, tom tom or even the pda. if anyone has any ideas at all on how to resolve this problem or even if you know what the reason for this delay in reading the signal is i would REALLY appreciate it.

someone suggested trying a trial version of another naviagtion software (to eliminate whether it's tom tom) but i am struggling to find one that is free to download so again if anyone knows where i can download one of them i would really appreciate it.

thanks

sue

I use a BC337 for Geocaching and Memory Map OS5.
The accuracy with these applications is fine.
I also use it with TTN6 when I forget to put the Bluetooth GPSr in my pocket.
I find that sometimes the last turning instruction can occur at the last minute just at the junction. This depends on how fast the vehicle is going compared to the update speed of the BC337 and the PDA. This occurs with both Bluetooth and CF GPSrs.
I have never missed a turning, the first instruction is far enough in advance to see the actual junction.
I wonder if your PDA is too slow for Tomtom.
