Perhaps this should really be in the Windows Mobile forum but more likely to get PiN 570 users here.

I recently upgraded to a PiN 570 from an old 3300 sleeve device and in general I'm quite pleased with it as a GPS device.

However there appears to be an issue with upgrading .NET Compact Framework on this device. Navman UK Support (who have been spectacularly unresponsive) have now intimated that the version of the OS on this device has been tweaked.

I suspect this could well be the case and now the .NET CF installer does not recognise this device as a valid installation target. Navman suggest getting in touch with Microsoft and asking them to change their installer, like that's going to happen!

Has anyone else encountered this, or (hopefully) worked around it?

thanks in advance

Sadly the Navman has an older bios that doesn't work with the most recent .net version. I have Anquet maps that, once upgraded, doesn't work either. My work around for this is not to upgrade Anquet on the device and just copy the maps.

Not ideal though eh?

it depends on what you consider "old". i fully understand kit becomes obsolecent, but when i originally posted, the rom version was only ~11 months old (rom version is dated 20050531)

i think they have made a patched/changed something in the embedded version of the OS or framework which is preventing this upgrade.
