Hi

silly but a simple question, I am going to the USA next week and have booked a hire car, does anyone know whether the rental cars have the cigar lighter socket to power my TomTom? If not i guess my daily travels will have to be limited to 4 hours!

Fear not, the US rental cars have the required socket.

Watch out, the steering wheel is on the wrong side though. Wink

I would assume most hire cars in the world come with one (unless you go with one with really old stock!). I've hired cars in serveral countries (did US in 1999) and all have had ciggi lighters - don't smoke but always have a car charger for my phone. Smile

Is it California where GPS mounts are illegal in cars?
Just a thought if you happen to be heading that way.

Just windscreen mounts - vent mounts are ok.

By the way, Minnesota too.
